USMB Coffee Shop IV

Signing in. To a safe haven. USMB has become so nasty, of late.

The number of non stick pans l’ve ruined. :08621:

Anyway, I’m going for surgery next week.,

Then l’m off to Cyprus, and after that, several rounds of radiation therapy.

Could be worse.
Radiation therapy? Back on the vigil list you go.

Pleas do.

I’m only having a bunch of cells removed, not a breast.

But this is the point l want to make. It didn’t show up in a routine mammogram!
Thank goodness they caught it so early. Prayers, good vibes, positive thoughts, all of it up for you. And yeah, sometimes the mammograms don't show all.

I've ruined some non stick pans too letting them get too hot. That's why I love using the electric skillets and slow cookers and air fryer whenever it's reasonable. Pretty much eliminates any danger of over heating.

I’ve got a halogen oven.

One of the best gadgets ever.

My son and daughter in law have one of those and swear by it. I might get one after my trusty air fryer gives up the ghost but right now it handles pretty much everything I need these gadgets for.

I know two people who have air fryers. The most delicious chips (fries) on a cold winter’s Saturday night.

If I start talking about boats this one is my fav.

Made in the USA around 1943. It's one of my retirement projects; a lot to do on her even after all we've done.

There are many other place in Texas that is just fabulous: The University of Texas at Austin Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center: About - Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center

Of course, if you come to Texas from late March or early April, you might get a wildflower treat of a lifetime if you drive Highway 30 from Huntsville to College Station and then on to Granger, and almost any backroad country back-road, you will see the loveliest cowpastures turned into bluebonnet heaven. Here's just the tip of the lovely blue iceberg:

 You and hossfly are lucky to live in Texas.Texas they don’t put up with a lot of crap most other states do from you know who,the name with a big G,not going to say the word sense it would be political but you know who I’m talking about so no need to mention the word. That gives me a pretty good idea, the only thing you really haven’t covered is resteraunts,d what would you say are the best resteraunts for thst state for tourists from eveything you have experienced? If you don’t go out much just t from what you have heard from others in your state?

Yeah I have been to Dallas and San Antonio was quite a thrill seeing where they faught at the Alamo seeing something so historic.if some tourist ever asks you this same question in the future beautress you don’t want to leave out the rain forest cafe in San antonio.it is nationwide in other states not in mine though.
Have you been there before? How bout you hossfly?
I am soooooo jeoulous of you both living in Texas where the riverwalk is about one of the coolest attractions on the planet to visit, that’s where rainforest is.they got so many resteraunts there you can visit you can spend a lifetime trying to dine at everyone of them as you both know so well.

So remember,in the future for visitors, don’t forget the riverwalk and rainforest cafe there.:)

Being mobile has its charms. Some I suppose are happy living in the travel trailers and if there is no joy in your current circumstances sometimes relocating can help. For a mountain boy I don't recommend Kansas though Hombre and I lived happily there for many years and our kids grew up there. But we had jobs, a good church, lots of wonderful friends there which made up for pretty much an otherwise mostly boring environment. Texas too is pretty short on mountains but does have more interesting features than Kansas. (Hombre and I are both native Texans. He grew up there and we met, married, and had our first born there.)

Friends, neighbors, people you can count on in a pinch when you need help are pretty important. In our experience, without them no place satisfies for long.
Oh you kidding, there is sooooo much more you can do in Texas that you can ever do than boring Kansas,Kansas all they have to brag about is the best barbecue in the country and that’s not even healthy for you, royals stadium with the most beautiful ballpark in the country with the fountains in the stadium, dodge city for visitors to see Wyatt Earps hangouts, and the best attraction other than royals stadium Fritz’s resteraunt, you should come back here sometime just fir that, there may be other resteraunts in the country thst do this but if there are I have never heard of them or seen one of them, the best thing about Kansas and really the only thing I can brag about on other than royals stadium is Fritz’s the fact at least as far as I know, they are the only resteraunt out there in the country where your food comes served to you on a train.:yes_text12:

The thing thst I really get a joy out of is seeing the look on all the kids faces with their mouths wide open when they see their food delivered to them on a train.gives me great joy to see them having something they really get excited about.:thup: Any kids I come across that are special to me,I tell their parents to take them there and if I know them well enough, ask them if I can come along to experience the joy on their faces.:) Heck I look like a kid myself when those trains come around,it even is a thrill fir me how many times I see it. :abgg2q.jpg:

But again, that is pale in comparison to what beautress and hossfly have in Texas with rainforest cafe.doesn’t even come close to the thrill and joy they get of all the things you get to see in that resteraunt, they got a waterfall in everything.heck I might move to Texas just so I can go to rainforest whenever I want.I’m thinking very serious about it.

Heck you may even have rainforest in New Mexico,I’m not sure, you should check to find out.

Yes they do make great potatoes and I 'broil' steaks and chops in ours too.

We've taken it downriver to Moreton Bay. It's now on Hardstand while we work on it. Big delays due to boat-builders losing their equipment during a flood on site last year. Some boats were carried off but ours was fine. I have a couple other smaller ones.

This one (like only) my wife and I are staying on this weekend.

My son took the other down to the Gold Coast: it's a Tasman 26 ft.

No. Just a bit of experimentation to see if it would be feasible to create one in our high desert climate. Almost all of New Mexico is either high desert or alpine. We have abundant underground water in most of the state but less surface water than any other state. Yet there have been eras over many millions of years when we have been rain forest, swamp, flood plain etc. with the fossil history indicating abundant plants and wildlife. Who knows what is in our climate future?

As I said,I seriously think you should make a visit to come back here to Kansas again, not for a royals game or bbq or any of that, thst you have already experienced, but to see fritzs,I am guessing you have never been there before? If so,then you need to come back sometime in your lifetime and visit there, thst is unless you HAVE been to a resteraunt that has a train deliver food to you before which I’m assuimg the answer is no.don’t go out of your way just for that of course, come back cause you would love to see the beautiful fountains at royals stadium and to see how much things gave changed sense last time you were here to have a really good reason to come.oh I forgot, union station is no slouch either, that would be enjoyable as well fir you, there have been so many changes to that place sense then I guarantee you that you would enjoy as well. :)

I have dear friends in Kansas and we visit back and forth--sometimes we go there, sometimes they come here or we meet somewhere in between like Angel Fire. I have driven every inch of the western two thirds of Kansas and know of a lot of interesting sites out there you haven't mentioned. :)

Also have lived on the east side--the southeast has some interesting features--and have flown in and out of Kansas City numerous times and spent many days in Topeka either on business or taking our kids to page at the state legislature. I enjoy sightseeing and imagine there are changes in lots of places.

One of our favorite restaurants when we lived in Salina was to drive 15 miles to Brookville and have their world famous family style fried chicken and coleslaw at the Brookville Hotel. The old hotel was finally condemned I guess and the owners moved the operation to a new location in Abilene. Last time we were there we went there but it just wasn't the same. Still okay food but the ambiance was totally missing.

Awhile back I was thinking of their coleslaw and on a whim asked for the Brookville Hotel coleslaw recipe on line. Wham! I had it! I guess the place is pretty famous to a lot of people. :)

(But compared to all there is to do in Texas and New Mexico, Kansas is still boring by comparison.)
