I think UBI should be a democrat backup plan. Solving simple poverty using existing legal and physical infrastructure is easier and more cost effective from a returns to scale perspective. Promoting and providing for the general welfare in this case means a multiplier of two or more.

Irrelevant to the point that UC does not apply to those who are not laid off from a job and you should stop acting like it does. It's also irrelevant to the point that it would take far too much money to give everyone $15/hr just for existing unless you're willing to scrap all the other welfare programs at the same time.

First, MW jobs are not supposed to provide a "living wage", they are supposed to be low value jobs that give a kid a start in the job market or an unskilled worker without a job history a chance.
I agree to disagree. Capitalists should not be resorting to cheap labor in our first world economy. Solving simple poverty means those now Having to work for the minimum wage would have the opportunity instead to go to school to learn the skills necessary for our first world economy not merely the private profit motive of Capitalists.
No, a teenager living at home and just wanting to get a foot in the door in the job market does not need to be paid a living wage. As for school and training, many have gotten that while working a job, or even more than one. It can be done.

I have read through your numerous threads. It is abundantly clear that you have absolutely no idea what made the US the leading economic power in the word. FDR's brand of socialism is what turned our formerly third world economy in the first world economy we have now.

WWII achieved full employment and helped the US dominate manufacturing for a while. Most of the other nations that would have competed were damaged due to the war.
FDR didn't usher in the golden age of prosperity. If anything, he prolonged the depression. What ushered in the age of prosperity was the war, the euphoria after it, the men returning home to make babies and fill manufacturing jobs and the lack of international competition. Note that the great collectivists who tried to tackle the US all failed. It is only now that we are turning toward collectivism that they are starting to get stronger.

So a couple of problems. First, you claim that raising the minimum wage will restore bargaining power to workers.
Much of the argument supporting minimum wage is its ability to lift workers out of poverty, and it also has the potential to influence the relative bargaining power between non-union workers and firms which was one of minimum wage's main purposes. Do you imagine workers had more bargaining power before 1938?

You can very easily.... EASILY live a 1960s life style on minimum wage today.
Not where I live.
As I recall, in 1967 the California minimum wage was $1.75 a hour; my rent was $75 a month in Santa Monica which was (and is) a relatively high rent area. My car was 7 years old, and a single minimum wage job allowed me to pay it off and maintain it. I haven't been able to afford a car since 1993. My home technology was limited to a landline and a radio. Today in California the minimum wage is $12 an hour, and it would barely cover the market rent on any apartment similar to the one I lived in half-a-century ago.
