Understanding the Mentality and World View of the Christian Fundamentalist

See if the far left drones can answer this:

So is Jeremiah Wright a "Christian Fundamentalist"?

No, he teaches liberal theology which seeks the destruction of Christian Fundamentalists and promotes Communism. (Rev. Wright and the Jesuit Pope Francis share this in common)

Does the same go fro all those Black Southern Baptist Churches?
If they follow the Doctrine of Jesus Christ as written in the King James Bible they are Fundamentalists.

Fundamentalists are following the fundamental truth of the Bible. There is no difference, De.

In reality Christianity is about charity and forgiveness. guno, however, doesn't care about facts that don't buttress his hate of ethnic groups other than his own.

Hell is the suffering that comes from selfishness and hate both in this world and the next. guno should know all about that.

So Christians who hate gays are going to spend eternity in hell with all of those gays?

How ironic!

There absolutely is a stark difference, Jeri.

Rigid intolerance is not a virtue.

All of the above begs the question, if they truly believe in Hell if they sin then why do they behave in sinful ways towards their fellow man?

Take their lies about gays for example. They have every right to not condone gays but they are sinning when lie about it being a "choice".

And no, I don't expect the OP to know the answer to that question because the fundamentalists don't know the answer themselves.

They don't even understand that they are sinning.

The cognitive dissonance necessary to be a Christian fundamentalist short circuits rational thought. Instead they emote because that is what a fear based religion is all about.

Spending your life in a state of fear is no way to live your life IMO.

The Bible disagrees with you, De. It is the wicked who flee when no one is chasing them. Not the Christians. A born again Christian abiding in Christ does not have a spirit of fear but rather a spirit of power, love and a sound mind. It is outside of Jesus Christ that fear is overcoming those who are perishing. In fact, it is a good way to measure where you are at with God. I find that the people who are closest to hell live in the greatest amount of fear and torment.

As to gays? I do not understand your point. Romans Chapter 1 is very clear that sodomy / homosexual acts are a sin. Your issue is with the Word of God. Not fundamentalist Christians.

Oh but you are wrong! The only response to those who would change the truth into a lie is to be rigidly intolerant of the lie! Of even the suggestion of a lie! Gods Word is True. 100%. Not 98%. We're going to go by the Word of God here. Not the opinion of a man or woman.

De, I can show you one scripture that will explain exactly why the enemy despises Fundamentalist Christians who will not compromise on the Word of God. (water message down)

It is written:
For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
Hebrews 4:12

The motivations behind christian fundamentalism and the literal fear that drives them

Basically, the Evangelical Christian has two powerful things controlling his/her mind and emotions – the fear of eternal punishment in hell and the reward of eternal paradise in heaven. Those are essentially the two most powerful things that can control someone’s mind, period. They are the ultimate brainwashing tools ever designed. No question about it. Now keep in mind that heaven and hell are not some abstract concept or theory to them. No, they are absolute LITERAL FACTUAL truths! No less true than the fact that falling off a cliff is harmful or the fact that your body needs food and water to live. Therefore, they take them VERY seriously indeed. It’s no joke to them at all, especially when the eternal destiny of the soul is at stake. And that’s why they are so adamant that you become saved too, because in their minds, it is like watching you driving toward the edge of a cliff, and since they care about you, they want to warn you of the reality of the situation. That’s what it boils down to. It’s not about disrespect for your rights, freedom, or choices. It’s really about their 1) genuine concern for the eternal judgment of your soul, and their 2) sense of duty to God, after being given eternal life and being saved, to do his will to preach God’s message of Salvation to you, which is the least they could do for being given immortality.

Now think of the implications of this. Remember that this is all literal factual truth to them. Here’s what that means to someone who genuinely believes these things. It means that these are ETERNAL consequences in their minds. What that means technically is that an eternal heaven means a bliss and paradise for them that is never-ending without end, where billions of years or trillions of years have no measurement at all. After all, that’s what infinity means. On the other hand, an eternal hell also means a state of suffering and pain forever and ever. This means that even if one was suffering, tormented, and in extreme pain in hell for a billion years or a trillion years, it would still not stop because eternity means that time does not exist. It would go on and on and on. It NEVER ends, EVER! Think of that for a moment, not as some abstract theory that’s “out there” but as a literal fact that could ACTUALLY happen to you! If you seriously see that as a realistic possibility, you can understand why it is a VERY VERY VERY SCARY concept indeed!

Understanding the Mentality and World View of the ChristianFundamentalist

And those atheists leftists have nothing to fear. They can continue to rape the economy, continue wars abroad, and continue the genocide with the unborn believing that there will be no day of reckoning for them. All they have to be concerned with is maintaining power so that they will never have to answer for their sins.

I would much rather have people in charge who think that they will have to answer to God someday than sociopaths like Obama and Hilary.

Jeri,

As a fundamentalist I have no doubt of your sincerity.

But no amount of bible versus are going to alter the fact that rigid intolerance is just flat out wrong. It is the basis for committing acts of terrorism. It allows those who wish to kill in the name of their deity to justify their murder of innocents. And yes, that applies to all religions.

So we are never going to see eye to eye on this topic.

Peace
DT

Fundamentalists, whether religious evangelicals or militant atheists, can be identified with 'stain': christstain or atheistain.

Non fundamentalists can embrace any religion or none. They don't try to impose their beliefs or lack thereof on anyone.

It only fundamentalists who have to prove themselves "right" who go around insisting that others must believe as they do.
The problem manifests when religious fundamentalists seek to compel conformity to their errant, subjective dogma by working to codify that dogma into secular law all must obey, and in violation of the First Amendment.

Lying for Jesus
Lying for Jesus is a form of pious fraud which happens when some Christians believe that falsifying information is acceptable if that brings people to Jesus or somehow supports his historicity, saintliness or supposed godliness.

The practice has a long and venerable history in the Christian religion.

Was Jesus a terrorist? Was Paul, Peter, John, Luke, Matthew, Timothy, James, Mark? Turn the other cheek is not the stuff of terrorist manuals, De. Love your enemy, bless those who curse you, pray for those who hate you is not exactly on the high list of threats unless you fear someone praying God's love might overwhelm you, De.

I understand that you feel right now that we are never going to see eye to eye on this topic but I believe differently. I believe the love of God is going to break through like the dawn of a new day on you and you are going to see Jesus as Jesus is rather than according to how He may have been presented to you by others. I believe the best for you! (always)

If my memory serves correctly I recall a poster claiming that he/she was justified in lying to atheists because of something they quoted from the bible. Needless to say they was misquoting it but such are the delusions of fundamentalists.
