It looks like NATO morons do anything possible to provoke nuclear Armageddon with Russia.

July 9, 2022: A Mi-8 helicopter was shot down in one of the conflict zones of Ukraine. At the downed site of the helicopter, a helmet actively used by NATO air force member countries and the US Air Force was found. Officially, such flight helmets are not in service with the Air Force of Ukraine. The military gear was identified as a “tactical helmet” model HGU-56/P ABH. This suggests that either an active American military pilot or a mercenary with piloting skills are being used to fly helicopters and jets in Ukraine.
At the downed site of the helicopter it appears that the pilot had serious burns and injuries, including critical ones from the upper part of the head and suggests that the pilot may have died.
Since the start of the conflict in Ukraine, this may be the first evidence indicating that pilots from NATO countries are covertly taking part in the hostilities in Ukraine.

For the past several weeks, news have been leaking out of the Zelensky government in Ukraine that they plan to bomb the bridge linking Crimea to the rest of Russia. Now, the effort is gaining support as NATO’s ex-commander appears to be encouraging Kiev to attack the Crimea bridge and suggests how to make it happen.
The former supreme NATO commander for Europe, General Philip Breedlove says the bridge linking Crimea to the rest of Russia is a “legitimate target” for Zelensky, he believes, and from speaking with several analysts said that ‘dropping’ (i.e., destroying) the Kerch bridge would be a huge blow to Russia. And that Kiev now has the ability to try and attack the bridge across the Kerch Strait with Western-supplied Harpoon anti-ship missiles.
“It doesn’t surprise me at all that the Russians are concerned about Kerch bridge. It’s incredibly important to them,” “now that the West (i.e., the United States) has given Ukraine Harpoon missiles.” The pending attack he says, can materialize in retaliation against Moscow’s tightening of its “naval blockade” on Ukraine, and that Russia might push as far as sinking civilian transport vessels carrying grain from Ukrainian ports, said Breedlove.
Following in the footsteps of Breedlove, the US Army Chief of Staff Gen. James McConville on Thursday said, “They (the Ukraine) want helicopters, and certainly attack helicopters at that, and they want air and missile defense that we’re seeing from most of our allies and partners. Those seem to be the capabilities that they want, and the more of that they can get, the more they desire.”
(BattleForWorld.com: The ‘Dark Leadership’ in the United States continues to push to further escalate the conflict in Ukraine.)
In addition, the German press is reporting that in May, police arrested a dozen suspects after a series of burglaries at the Bundeswehr in Schleswig-Holstein, and among them were two soldiers who wanted to destroy the bridge between Crimea and Russia with stolen explosives. – The weekly magazine Stern headlined the news, describing the police investigations into a theft ring involving four Bundeswehr soldiers and several other suspects who were eventually arrested in Kiel. The arrests took place on the May 22nd. The accused repeatedly broken into the Bundeswehr facilities since the beginning of this year (2022) stealing equipment for themselves or third parties, leading to a conspiracy to blow up the Crimean bridge that was accidentally uncovered when police traced the suspects’ phone calls.
And the threat of Zelensky, via the United States/NATO, ordering the bombing of the Crimean bridge, appears to be a serious threat, because the Russians have deployed barges with several radar reflectors on June 22 as one of the counter-measures against threats being repeated in the West.
(BattleForWorld.com: There is a possibility of a terrible event on the horizon, that could cause an unexpected reaction, and this could either mean the end of the conflict in Ukraine or the official breakout of World War Three. I think the response will be unconventional firstly, but also conventional, and the reply thereafter could be very eventful. I think this is what the West wants hoping that they can save their Unipolar Order. And is one of the reasons why the West is shutting down supply chains and disrupting services to have more control over the people, because the West knows World War Three is pending.)

The bridge itself is nothing but trouble.

The Ukranians have nothing that can take out the bridge because nobody is giving them munitions that can. The Ukranians can't get close enough to take it out with artillery either.
And there has been no traffic on the bridge either.

Besides....they have the capabilities of crossing elsewhere. It's just an expense of resources that will accomplish nothing.

Crimean bridge radar reflectors deployed by Russia from Ukraine war threat.

They aren't proprietary military helmets, you can buy them online. I just saw at least twenty on sale on e-bay.

The pics in the OP were taken from Gentech's own Instagram page. The Mi-8 was shot down in March.

2 of the crewmembers survived and were taken prisoner. They were later part of a prisoner exchange and were being treated in a Ukrainian hospital.

They sent the pictures to Gentech with a note of thanks that credited the helmets with saving their lives. Gentech cleared the release with the UA before posting the pictures in early July.

And that means what? The helmets were made by Gentech, but aren’t military specific. As I said anyone can buy them on e-bay.

That means that the story about NATO pilots is one another piece of Russian bullshit.

This is a proxy war, it has always been a proxy war..... NATO against Russia.

So no big surprise there. :dunno:

Would you like salt and pepper with that crow?
Russia bombed civilian targets because of its destruction too.

The taking out of that bridge was ingenious. I'll give the Ukranians kudos for figuring out a way to do it. But now it does free up troops that were once guarding this heavily fortified bridge to do other things. And Russia was short on staffing.

Russia now needs to build another bridge into the area to cross...or ships which will need defending. Plus it will make identifying and counting the Russian troops and equipment entering Ukraine more spread out and difficult as they once just used the bridge...now they can't.

This is a war...stuff happens. And the post you quoted is months old...not days.

I'm not picking a side in this war. Both sides have grievances. I tend to side more with Ukranians than Russia because Russia was a lot bigger and more in control of itself. Ukraine was an emerging market with a highly educated workforce. They were the next place to be a foundry for high tech parts and components of everything from rocket engines to silicon wafers. Plus it was great farmland and an agricultural powerhouse.

Now both nations are trashed with the "brain drain" of educated and wealthy people leaving the areas. Their economies are also wrecked for decades to come. As the infrastructure of Ukraine is destroyed the reason for Russia starting this war is being destroyed too.

However....

Now that the nation is in chaos...the money laundering of illegal money in their banking system can begin. And everyone with a few hundred million of illegal profits can begin filtering it through the Ukranian banking system and washing it so the criminals can have access to it. That's what war is really about these days anyway. Rich criminals washing their money so they can access it to spend. After all...Afghanistan closed so there was a need for a new conflict.

Your statement was that Ukraine had no way of blowing the bridge as recently as July. By September the bridge is gone. It doesn't "free up troops". It means Russia now has to dedicate a team of people to try to fix this bridge, tying up resources. Because it STILL has to be guarded while being repaired.

I said that they didn't have the munitions capable of doing so because nobody would give them the missiles capable of doing it...and it is for good reason that they don't and won't in the future.

This is the month of October....July was how long ago? War is an ever changing battleground...of course what I said (how many months ago again?) Is not going to be relevant today.

Repair of that bridge? Good luck!
What is that going to look like? I haven't seen the damage so I can't guess what is going to be required to fix it. But chances are it's going to be a very long term project. Not something done in a week or a month but likely months...especially since winter is coming soon...and in a hostile environment that can get construction workers shot or blown up? Where are the raw materials going to come from? Who is providing security? What sort of security is going to be needed? Especially when the Ukranians have drones that drop grenades from a fairly high altitude. (Almost impossible to see or stop)

The Ukranians won this one. Russia is stuck with boating supplies across the water...and they already were having logistics issues as well as personnel issues. The Russians have fewer tail than teeth and many who do both...but the specialists are needed. And an army is only as good as its supply lines these days.

It's going to be interesting to see what happens with the bridge. Does Russia continue to bombard civilian targets in frustration? Do the Ukranians begin payback on Russian infrastructure that borders the area? What does Finland do in support of NATO?
The bridge is a nuisance...but losing Finland to NATO is a major....because now the supplies either get boated or really close to Finland's border...(observable by NATO)
