Tupelo, MS.....Plane threatening to crash into Walmat

For immediate release::: On 09-03-2022 at approximately 05:00 am TPD was notified that a pilot of an airplane (possibly King Air type) was flying over Tupelo. The pilot has made contact with E911 and is threatening to intentionally crash into Wal Mart on West Main. TPD has worked with Wal-Mart West and Dodges on West Main to evacuate the stores and disperse people as much as practical. TPD also has been able to begin talking with the pilot directly. At this time the situation is ongoing with TPD and all Emergency Services in our area on alert. Citizens are asked to avoid that area until an all clear is given. With the mobility of an airplane of that type the danger zone is much larger than even Tupelo. More information will be released when appropriate. Walmart @0500 in Tupelo, MS...sooo...approximately 50 meth heads would have been killed.

He worked at the local airport reportedly. That will probably be his final target if he decides to go out with a bang. He is probably half way through his fuel if it was fully topped off and he was wheels up about 3 hours ago.

UPDATE (8:21 a.m.):
Police have re-opened roads in west Tupelo around the airport as the threat has shifted away from this area, at least temporarily.

UPDATE (8:12 a.m.):
An airport personnel with knowledge of the matter said that the plane has currently left Tupelo's airspace, but that could change within moments.

Law enforcement on the scene said the pilot is now flying near the Toyota plant in Blue Springs.

UPDATE (8:08 a.m.):
We have confirmed that the pilot of the plane is an employee of Tupelo Regional Airport.

Police are closing all roads on the west side of Tupelo.

The military needs to tail this guy and shoot it down over an empty area if possible

That's a nice plane. And he can fly it. And to think, all I did in my youth was steal a car and crash it into a light pole.

He is over the sticks. They will wait him out rather the risk a missile. If he wants out alive, he might try to land the thing and run like hell before they get there.
