Can The World Stop Mass Starvation in Ukraine?

The Russian Army has followed its immoral warfare strategy in Mariupol, Ukraine, by leveling the City by the use of missiles, rockets and shells; there still lies an unresolved matter though what is to happen to the two hundred thousand to three hundred thousand civilians that remain in Mariupol, is mass starvation to befall them? The media has reported stories spotlighting the desperation of these how some of these people have resorted to draining heat radiators to get needed water or drinking water from creeks in the city's parks until some of them have been contaminated by decaying corpses.

Back after World War II when Russia had West Berlin surrounded the Allies air lifted food to the trapped Berliners, military planes did air drops of food and medicine to Berliners for over a year. Unfortunately, today the allies cannot do air drops to trapped Ukrainians in Ukrainian cities under Russian assault because Russia would shoot down the planes and the Allies would have to retaliate and you would end up with the Allies and Russia in a shooting war and Russian President Putin is way too immoral the risk level would be more likely than not that Putin would use tactical nuclear weapons which means the death toll from the War would be in the millions if not tens of millions, that path cannot be traveled.

But how about using fleets of small civilian planes to air drop survival amounts of food and water to trapped civilians in Mariupol, specifically in small boxes with parachutes attached? Of course it would be super dangerous, of course a lot of plane crews would lose their lives. But could it be done? Let's examine the problem. How do we get plane crews; with high pay and the second means wouldn't really apply for pilots because they have to have special skills and experience but for the members of the plane crews that retrieve boxes in the plane and push it out the plane door offer a sentence reduction program for prisoners (of course prisoners incarcerated for murder or a sexual offense would not be eligible) for every mission a prisoner goes on his or her sentence is reduced by three months. Is this a foolish idea from the standpoint that the survival rate for planes conducting such missions would be so low that it makes no sense to have such a program. I am not an expert in any area involved here but I think from an ordinary person's standpoint, no! First, you conduct the missions at night so the Russians in the vicinity of Mariupol firing at planes will give away their location which will bring or risk bringing Ukrainian artillery or mortar fire upon them which will likely lead the Russian army to use limited ground fire upon these air drops. Further because these air drops are only dropping food and medicine and that it is being done by small planes in massive numbers the Russian Army will probably use the prudence to use a limited number of Surface to Air missiles against these air drops preferring to conserve their precious number of such missiles for Ukrainian military air threats. Also, the planes involved would fly low under most radar sure they would be vulnerable to Russian fighter jets but since Ukrainians have stinger missiles Russian air force Generals would probably be hesitant to risk many Russian fighter jets having them fly low which they would need to do to pick off these small planes so probably there would be no large danger from Russian combat planes.

What is envisioned here is the planes flying from the countries in the Free World bordering Ukraine like; Moldova, Romania, Hungary, Slovakia and Poland. The question probably pops up in many people's mind doesn't this raise the same issues of Nato implementing a No-Fly zone in Ukraine. What specifically this issue is asking is this neighboring countries permitting a humanitarian air lift into besieged Ukrainian cities from their territory enough nexis or enough actions on these neighboring countries part to be deemed a combatant in the war by Russian Valdimir Putin. The test seems to be that on everything the Free World gives the Ukrainian people does it break the risk threshold to amount to making the contributor a combatant in the war; it seems that the Free World is using the reasonable person test. A reasonable person should not conclude that dropping boxes of rice and beans and juice and things like that into the city of Mariupol to keep 200,00 civilians from starving to death in any way makes a participating country a combatant in the war. It is envisioned that a consortium of aid groups would run the operation, governments in the Free World would cut checks for the consortium just like they do for humanitarian groups operating in war zones in Syria and Africa, etc..

The other idea is a long term idea and very unconventional. The essence of the problem is one needs to get shipments of food and medicine by air into Russian besieged cities in Ukraine to stem massive deaths of civilian from lack of these necessities. The ideal solution would be to fly big planes over the besieged cities and drop pallets of food and medicine where the pallet has a parachute attachment to provide safe delivery. This isn't possible for the aforementioned reasons that the Russians would shoot down such planes and the only means to stop that outcome is to have NATO eliminate this military threat which means a war between NATO and Russia, a non-starter. How about flying medium size planes loaded with supplies over the besieged cities and then crashing the planes in the civilian areas (you cannot land them there is no safe runways). Th obvious problem is two fold: one crashing the plane would destroy the supplies by crushing them or through a fire from the crash specifically from a fire caused by the combustion engine and the fuel tank. The idea is to use electric motor operated propeller engines that is powered by batteries, the cutting edge type that has no liquid that is all solid which makes it dramatically less susceptible to experiencing a fire. The frame of the plane would need to be as lightweight as possible and only strong enough to fly one mission; something like an aluminum skeleton frame with a thin flexible plastic, like Teflon, skin that would let metal fragments break through it and the breach of the skin would only be the size of the metal fragment. A very simple automatic flight control system something like that which cruise missiles use that follow directions and a route like a GPS system. The automatic flight control system would be programmed to shut off the propeller motors when it gets over the besieged city in the Ukrainian zone and once the motors are shut down a parachute would be shot out the back of the plane to slow the plane after a set number of seconds where the chute should have satisfactorily slowed down the plane a tripod of parachutes is shot out the top of the plane and the plane floats down like it is an Appollo space capsule landing. Electric motor operated propellers would not move the plane that quickly so a system could be set-up to tow the planes to like forty-five minutes from the destination city and have a system where the tow plane not only has a tow line to the plane but a connection line to the top middle of the plane so the delivery plane pilot steers the plane during the tow but once the tow is released the delivery plane pilot engages the automatic flight control system which is set for the destination city then the pilot leaves the plane using the connection line which allows the pilot to be pulled into the towing plane. The towing plane returns to the departing airport and the delivery plane flies to the destination besieged city!

Think of all the starving children and families with children here in America who are living in poverty and suffering micro apocalypses of their own. How in the world will we ever get food to them when the in vogue and trending crocodile tears of the day are shed for people living far across the Atlantic?

UKRAINE????? without the wheat fields of Ukraine... famine will return to Africa and other parts of the world... a weak and frightened and compromised leader of the free world is causing this....
and to think that he is actually illegitimate makes me sick....
this shouldn't be happening....

All you'll accomplish with this is getting a hell of a lot of planes full of relief supplies shot down and a lot of dead volunteers.

The only way to stop this is to stop Putin.

You can't fly under the radar of ground based systems like the BUK and ZSU-23-4 since they are on the ground literally at head height.

The AK47 also shot down an enormous number of planes and helicopters in Vietnam.

As much as we wish something like this could be done, it can't be as long as the hostilities continue.

If Putin is willing to let civilians starve, freeze, and die for lack of water to accomplish his goals it will serve only to warn the rest of the former Soviet States the fate that awaits them and to further force NATO's European members to arm up.

When it's all said and done he will have destroyed his own country economically, much of his military equipment, and he won't be able to leave Russia unless he wants to face a War Crimes Trial.

He's willing to do anything short of launching nukes and actually wants as much civilian suffering and death as possible. That way if he can keep what he's taken he'll have fewer insurgents to deal with in the future.

Mass starvation will not be in Ukraine or Europe. We have food here. The starvation would be in 3rd-world shitholes because of the skyrocketing cost of fertilizer and gasoline.

There are literally thousands in Ukraine right now starving.

I don't engage in or care for hyperbole much.
I don't either, I'm stating fact. Mariopol is the worst right now about 90% damaged or destroyed, no utilities, no food getting in and they are literally taking their lives into their own hands to try and quickly bury the dead to avoid a massive disease outbreak among the remaining population.

They are literally weeks, days in some cases from an enormous amount of starvation and deprivation.

All of the starving children in America who are living in poverty??

We thought about them when Republicans tried time and time again to cut every program targeted at helping those starving children...

So yea, what about starving children in America?

I agree about Mariupol. It is my hope that once taken, Putin will see fit to go to cease-fire talks and an eventual settlement having seized a corridor to Crimea and sole possession of the Sea of Azov. He will be able to claim "liberation" of Russian-speaking territory and not involve himself in the occupation of a Ukrainian rump state.

Where are they? Who isn't feeding them? In what state, or city are there not resources for the poor to get food?
