Trump's third term

At the time the 12th was written, you only had to be 35 yoa, a citizen and been in the country for 14 years. Once again are you saying Trump doesn't meet those requirements. Also the 22nd hinges on being elected president, it does not exclude being elected VP.

.

I have no idea what you're talking about. It seems to me like you're not talking about the same topic as I'm talking about.

Perhaps you should read more of the conversation you've inserted yourself into.

Perhaps you should read what I wrote. I got the feeling you were doing the "I see this word so I'm going to talk about this thing which is what this one word makes me think of" rather than, "this is what the person said, let's respond to that."

WTF are you talking about? The member I responded to has a fantasy that Trump in constitutionally ineligible to run for VP if he so desired. The member is wrong.

You replied to me. Are you drunk or something?

No actually he cannot. No VP ca didate can run if they are not legally eligible to be president!

Have you read the constitutional requirements to be president, they've been posted in this thread numerous times. Trump is qualified, he just can't be elected to that office. The 22nd doesn't prohibit him from being elected to another office, including VP.

Of course you can post proof of that, right?

.
It's in the amendment. Nobody that is ineligible to be president can be VP. Since your Fat Orange Shit Giblet God/King will have served 2 terms he is ineligible to be president. Since the VP is next in line it cannot be The Fat Orange Shit Giblet God/King because he is ineligible to be president! I know it's tough for you!!!

They’re all amendments

First amendment, second amendment, etc.

Any of them can technically be repealed like the one for prohibition was. Doesn’t mean it’s going to happen

And it only happens with 2/3 vote from both houses of congress

Do you really think that’s going to happen? Really?

Trump can’t just sign an executive order and amend the constitution
And 3/4's of the states would have to vote for it. None of those 3 are happening!

So you say, I notice you didn't post the text of this amendment. Could it be it doesn't say what you claim?

.

Obviously ewe cannot read. Let mommy read it to ewe!

What am I supposed to read, you haven't posted anything worth reading. All you've done is reference some phantom amendment, that doesn't prove anything.

See post 269.

I don't think that matters. They were clearly spelling out that a president could only serve two terms, and splitting hairs over the word "elected" isn't going to make a difference. If they intended that, "you can only assume office of the president twice by being 'elected', but you can be president as many times as you want through other means", they would have said so.

If that were the case, other people woul ld have tried it already.

And you might be right.

The problem is you have to stop that kind of behavior at the beginning, otherwise it could be too late.

But the right are enabling this.

My worry is that Trump does all this, and then the next guy who comes along is smarter, younger and more ambitious and nefarious.

US Democracy is very, VERY fragile because of the nature of the system.

"The right" aren't enabling this. Even as I was listening to right wing radio, the hosts are clearly saying it's unconstitutional.

I think most right wingers see this as trump trolling the left. IF he ever actually attempted it, you'd see many people on the right oppose him.
