Jerome Powell is refusing to leave office after his term expires. I can't wait to hear the left's response to this question. It could be a precedent. Trump 2028, no election needed. Trump should just refuse to leave office.

Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell announced Wednesday he will remain at the Fed as a governor after his term as chair ends next month

Trump tried not to leave office but failed because TACO.

"These legal actions by the administration are unprecedented in our 113-year history,” Powell said. “I worry that these attacks are battering the institution and putting at risk the thing that really matters to the public, which is the ability to conduct monetary policy without taking into consideration political factors."

I agree.

Trump responded with another insulting Truth Social post where he said Powell was staying on “because he can’t get a job anywhere else.” Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent added in an appearance on Fox Business that it was “a violation of all Federal Reserve norms.”

Trump is just another disgruntled, mean old man.

Warsh, his likely successor, was confirmed earlier Wednesday by the Senate banking committee, advancing his nomination to a full Senate vote. But Warsh is not set to take Powell’s position as governor; instead, he is set to fill the seat currently held by Trump ally Stephen Miran.

Tsk-tsk for Trump and his interfering.

Trump never tried to not leave office. Biden came in and Trump gave him the keys to the front door and left.

So? Biden won, Trump left. Powell says he's refusing to leave. Got an opinion on the thread subject?
Who has been elected to replace him?

The seven members (governors) of the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System are appointed by the President of the United States and confirmed by the U.S. Senate

Sounds like Trump is not doing his job to illegally oust Powell before his time is up.

Pence said. “President Trump demanded that I use my authority as vice president presiding over the count of the Electoral College to essentially overturn the election by returning or literally rejecting votes. I had no authority to do that.”

He isn't staying as Chairman, just on the board. Nothing stops that from happening.

You see things like this happen all the time at other levels of governance. Locally school boards or city councils may rotate the head position.

Powell's term as a FED Governor doesn't expire until 2028.

His term as the Trump Chairman (Trump 45 put him in the position) is expiring and he his stepping down.

He's not remaining in the "Chair Office" he is leaving it, he will leave as a Fed Governor in a couple of years.

People say a lot of things. So what?

Very few people preside over that ceremonial count, and none ever took it upon themselves to reject valid States certified EC Vote counts. I can't stand Pence's politics, but I trust his words over Benedict Donald's words any day.
