There is no requirement for a president to preserve such evidence. They can declassify at will.

Political says the POTUS doesn't have to follow any procedure but his own.

Obviously, if Trump took previously-classified material to Mar-A-Lago, he declassified it all before doing so is the most logical conclusion.
