Exclusive: Justice Department launches a criminal investigation into Trump accuser E. Jean Carroll

Are you not happy about perjury? Most people take it seriously and such instances need investigated. Why do you find it funny?
Carroll's attorney has addressed the accusation previously in a letter to the court during the defamation trial. There was no perjury. This is yet another instance of vindictive prosecution by the orange disgrace.

Says THE LAW. You can find anyone you want "credible" in a left-wing banana court you insane nut. That doesn't make it real.

Several state courts kept falsely ruling in Colorado that Colorado's claim that Trump should be banned from the ballot a "credible" claim and tried to do it. One problem....it WASN'T credible, nor real. A 9-0 Supreme Court ruling later (with 3 Dem nominees agreeing) humiliated you kooks.

A state court in NY said it was "credible" that Trump had committed fraud (despite never identifying any victim of fraud), slapped him with a $500 million fine for it, and banned him from doing business in New York. One problem....it WASN'T credible, nor real. A 5-0 ruling from a NY appellate court (with 4 Dem nominees on it) threw the fine completely out, reinstated Trump's ability to do business in the state, and humiliated you kooks.

Several juries found it credible (and later falsely upheld as credible by the D.C. circuit court of appeals) that hundreds of J6ers had committed obstruction of justice under the Sarbanes-Oxley Act. One problem it WASN'T credible, nor real. An overwhelming Supreme Court majority (including Biden's own nominee for chrissakes) ruled that Biden's Justice Department grossly wronged in applying the Sarbanes-Oxley Act to these protestors and threw hundreds of charges against hundreds of protestors (including some charges by the insane Jack Smith against President Trump) out. You kooks once against humiliated.

I can go on and on here but I'll stop there. The story is as old as time. You kooks make a false claim, rig a left-wing banana court to agree, and then sit back and get punched in the face when it's appealed and defeated by the facts. The Carroll lawsuit is f*cked like all the other lawfare. We know that for sure. She's just trying to stay out of prison at this point for the numerous lies under oath.
Unfortunate that the court took the narrow view on 14th A grounds that states can't ban candidates for federal office from a state or national ballot. But did not rule, as the CO court correctly did, on the broader matter that trump participated in an insurrection and therefore should be banned from all ballots.

I know that I can't apply any standards of behavior to him at this point, and I admit that I've become a little numb to this whole ugly thing.

But him using the DOJ for revenge on HER did surprise me a bit.

Oh well. America, 2026.
He still owes her $58 million

A month before the first trial in 2023, then-Trump lawyer Alina Habba sought to delay it, saying in court papers that new revelations about Hoffman partially funding Carroll's case "raises significant questions as to Plaintiff's credibility, as well as her motive for commencing and/or continuing the instant action."

The 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, in a Dec. 30, 2024, ruling, upheld the $5 million jury award from 2023. The court addressed Carroll's credibility after Trump accused her of lying, during a deposition, about how her case was funded.

The court cited Carroll's explanation that when the question about Hoffman's contributions was first posed to her in 2022, she had forgotten about "the limited outside funding" received in September 2020.

"It showed that Ms. Carroll simply was not involved in the matter of who was or was not funding her litigation costs," the appeals court said.

Hoffman has defended the financial assistance, saying in a social media post that "supporting women fight for progress and justice in philanthropy, politics and business has been a longstanding priority of mine, as is supporting America against the threat of Trump."

A court entry earlier this month said Trump will not have to pay the award until the U.S. Supreme Court gets a chance to review the case or reject an appeal. The appeals court agreed to a request by one of Trump's lawyers that it let Trump delay the payment to Carroll, though he was required to post a $7.4 million bond to cover any additional interest costs, a request Carroll's attorney had made.

*$98.5 million

Which includes interest, since he hasn't paid her a dime.

Nor will he, ever. So, hopefully, she pursues bank levies and property liens through the courts.
Carrol needs to place a lien on Mara Lago

100%

The courts don't play. The last thing they want is for society to think that court rulings dont matter, or are just "suggestions".

Current state of affairs:

Carroll won a judgment forcing Trump to deposit the full amount in an appeals bond. Trump is currently fighting to delay this. If his effort fails, he has to post the bond, then negotiate a payment structure. If he does not, they can immediately begin the process of getting levies and liens.

The easiest way of understanding what trump's attorneys are trying to do is they're trying to call Carroll's credibility in to question because of her comments about outside funding for her case. IOW, lawfare, not a contention of innocence.

Ms. Carroll’s lawyers in their own letter argued that the financial support was irrelevant to Ms. Carroll’s legal claims and that she had nothing to do with obtaining the outside funding and no dealings with anyone associated with the nonprofit.

They noted that it was not until September 2020, almost a year after Ms. Carroll filed the first of what became two lawsuits against Mr. Trump, that their firm obtained the funding to help pay “certain costs and fees.”

They said Mr. Trump’s effort to delay the trial — earlier this week he asked that it be delayed because of a “deluge of prejudicial media coverage” concerning his recent criminal indictment in New York — was “his latest transparent effort to keep a jury from deciding Carroll’s claims.”

Mr. Hoffman is a billionaire tech entrepreneur known for cofounding LinkedIn, which went public in 2011 and sold to Microsoft for $26 billion in 2016. He has a long history of funding Democratic candidates and causes, including those specifically designed to counteract Mr. Trump’s influence.
