Donald Trump's speech this past Wednesday whose purpose was to destroy Hillary Clinton deserves condemnation because it takes our Election process to new moral lows for it shows an extreme lack of commitment to the truth. It is loaded with false statements, distortions, speculations guised as fact and references to sources that lack integrity. These types of elections hurt America!
Trump said "Hillary Clinton has perfected the politics of personal profit and "theft". She ran the State Department like her own "personal hedge fund -doing favors for oppressive regimes, and many others in "exchange" for cash" ----------"They totally own her". As evidence of this he references that Hillary made the figure he used $21.6 million in giving speeches after she left the Obama Administration and Hillary along with her husband made $153 million since 2001 when Bill left Office giving speeches to Wall Street Banks and other special interests. These facts lack persuasiveness they don't support the conclusion sought because ex-high level U.S. government officials make enormous sums in speaking fees after they leave office if you look at the record of Timothy Geithner and Ben Bernanke to name just a couple they probably got close to six figure fees for individual speeches that is what the speech circuit gives today, the Clinton's did nothing wrong with their speech work!
Trump blamed the worsening of the Pre-Obama bad trade imbalance with China on Hillary Clinton. Trump said " Then she let China steal hundreds of billions of dollars in our intellectual property" ------ "In return, Hillary Clinton got rich". If Trump really thinks this he is not knowledgeable enough on this issue for one who wants to be President. The truth of the matter is China has been wrongfully taking our intellectual property and trade secrets for decades long before Hillary became Secretary of State China was having a field day in this area all through the Bush administration; the media is replete with accounts of China pressuring American businesses to set up manufactutring facilities in China and pressuring these corporations' management at those facilities to disclose intellectual property and confidential production know how and then Chinese businesses came into existence using this information or close to this information, and other Chinese mischief in this area has been documented. Culpability for Chinese unfairness in this area does not lie at the feet of Hillary Clinton it lies at the feet of the entire political and economic leadership in America for the last twenty-five years and goodness calls for to be considered a compelling reason to change the current globalization paradigm and the respective laws and allow countries throughout the world to protect a prudent portion of their domestic industries from this unfair competition that is uncontrollable and irreversible!
Trump repeatedly references the book "Clinton Cash" by Peter Schweitzer as authority for proof on the accusation that the Clintons enriched themselves at the American people's expense. This choice by Trump really underscores his problem with behaving as a person committed to the truth. Peter Schweitzer is a hack journalist, he has been proven in his journalism to use false facts and half truths where he doesn't report the whole story; it is completely inappropriate for Trump to cite this person as a credible source for these serious accusations made against Hillary Clinton. One could write a book on Schweitzer's shoddy journalism but focusing on a few points is worthy of mention. Schweitzer essentially tries to say that the Clinton Foundation is some kind of scam where the Clinton's are enriching themselves from the Foundation and it is a front where payoffs are made to the Foundation for Clinton to sell out the country as Secretary of State. First off, if one checks the publicly available audited records of the Foundation only a very reasonable percentage of the monies raised goes to administrative and fund raising expenses like nine to thirteen percent in recent years it is a bona fide charity doing a lot of good work! Further, even before Hillary became Secretary of State or this job was even on the radar for her the Foundation was getting a large amount of funding even from foreign entities so what was the pay off for then?; moreover, Hillary was confirmed in this job by the Senate by a 94-2 vote common sense indicates Republican Senators wouldn't have voted for her confirmation if Hillary was going to sell her office vis-a-vis the Foundation the scandal would hurt these Senators in their reelection bids; Schweitzer doesn't prove his accusation here. Schweitzer in his book paints Hillary and Bill as like the King and Queen of Haiti not only having this enormous power there but doling out the rebuilding funds from the 2010 Haiti Earthquake in a corrupt manner. The truth of the matter born out by reality and media reports is that Haitian government authorities controlled the wheel steering the ship of the rebuilding efforts for Haiti any failures in this area largely rest with the Haitian government. Schweitzer criticizes the Clinton's for their effort on "Caracol Industrial Park" alleging Clinton corruption there; he says worker houses ended up costing $23,409 a piece when the estimate was for $8,000 a piece that is non-sensical criticism because building a house for $23 k is a success in any reasonable person's book. A fair assessment would be that Caracol was and is a successful effort on helping the Haitian people by 2014 8600 homes, businesses and government entities were connected to the Caracol power grid and as of April 2015 6,200 jobs were created there.
Trump references Schweitzer's book for the accusation that Hillary Clinton did something wrong as Secretary of State specifically in the State Department's approving Russia acquiring ownership of 20% of America's uranium mines Schweitzer saying that nine people in the deal donated $145 million to the Clinton Foundation around this time. Trump in making such an accusation shows his lack of knowledge on this whole Russian issue. Since the 1980's when the Soviet Union dissolved America has very prudently been trying to get the Russians to get rid of their huge amount of nuclear weapon material. A U.S./Russia deal was made in the 1990's which would bring about the Russian nuclear weapon material to be reprocessed into nuclear reactor fuel and sold throughout the world even in the U.S.; this was great on several fronts one none obvious reason is it gave the Russian Government entity responsible for Russia's nonmilitary and military nuclear resources the financial resources to convert military nuclear resources to nonnuclear resources and just secure all their nuclear resources in a better fashion. This deal culminated in the U.S. nuclear power industry relying post 2000 for up to thirty percent of its nuclear fuel on Russia in fact when the deal would expire in 2013 wiithout the Russian supply this U.S. industry would be in trouble. Bottom line helping the Russian uranium fuel industry with this acquisition helped the U.S. nuclear power industry and made the Russian nuclear resources more secure for the world and helped on safety issues for the Russian nuclear industry; in addition, the facts are Hillary wasn't even involved in this State Department decision and a lot of other U.S. Federal agencies had to sign off on the deal for it to go through!
Trump really went over the top in his speech blaming the fall of Gaddafi in Libya and Mubarak in Egypt and the Civil War in Syria and the trouble in these countries on Hillary Clinton. Any competent analysis would conclude these developments occurred because of the "Arab Spring", that is, ordinary Arabs in the Middle East and North Africa getting fed up with the dictators running their countries and oppressing, assaulting and killing their countrymen and depriving them of the prosperity that they could achieve in a good country and so they pursued mass uprising to throw or try to throw them out of power, to blame Hillary for these developments is preposterous! Trump in his speech engaged in over the top fear mongering on the subject of the Syrian refugee crisis specifically Trump said "Hillary Clinton wants to bring in people (to emigrate to the U.S.) who believe women should be enslaved and gays put to death". Trump displayed here a real unfairness in evaluating someone's record because in truth Hillary Clinton probably has done more for advocating for women's rights throughout the world than any American women alive today. Time and again as Secretary of State in her travels outside of the U.S. she spoke up for women's rights and met with groups of women to promote these rights, this is well documented. This 6/22 speech by Trump should increase the alarm this man is unfit to be President to a deafening level for If Donald Trump is repeatedly exhibiting this poor commitment to the truth before becoming President what is going to happen when he becomes President and he has the power to dramatically affect the American people's lives and exhibits this problem with the truth significant number of People are going to be hurt the American people should be really concerned about Donald Trump from this vantage point!
