I thought I knew, but now I'm not sure.

but there is more skepticism now, even in the medical community
Not so. BTW, RFK and his lawyer aren't in the medical community. Those that are think he's a dangerous quack.

Of all the things you could choose to not trust the government about, vaccine safety is among the least of them.
I don't think RFK has expended all this time and energy over vaccine skepticism to hear himself talk. In any event, it isn't worth the risk to find out which of us is right. The same goes for Baby Donald.

Have you gotten every Covid booster recommended by the federal gov't?

Absolutely so, though many still won’t speak out for fear of retribution. There is still a leftist clique in the medical and science community that will quickly scorn those that step out of line on any subject, including science and medicine, that has become politicized.

My wife and every MD colleague she knows is more skeptical now than they were before. It doesn’t mean they don’t prescribe drugs or distrust medical science, it just means they are aware that medicine and science can be skewed by politics. The blind adherence to the so called prevailing thought has taken a major hit.

Until the era of trumpery, I thought I knew how people would react to the discovery of a vaccine that greatly decreases the chances you could die from a highly infectious virus. The vaccine also having the ability to minimize the most severe of the virus's symptoms. But I was wrong about that.

I would have said with confidence even trumples didn't want to roll the dice on a re-emergence of polio.

Like Mr. Kennedy, Mr. Siri insists he does not want to take vaccines away from anyone who wants them. “You want to get the vaccine — it’s America, a free country.” he told Arizona legislators last year after laying out his concerns about the vaccines for polio and other illnesses. He did not mention the petitions he has lodged on behalf of ICAN with the Food and Drug Administration, asking regulators to withdraw or suspend approval of vaccines not only for polio, but also for hepatitis B.

Mr. Siri is also representing ICAN in petitioning the F.D.A. to “pause distribution” of 13 other vaccines
, including combination products that cover tetanus, diphtheria, polio and hepatitis A, until their makers disclose details about aluminum, an ingredient researchers have associated with a small increase in asthma cases.

Now I'm not so sure. After all, trumples are all in on the guy nominated to lead HHS who said he doesn't believe any vaccine is safe and effective. Like the man who RFK wants to be lead counsel for HHS, Bob says he doesn't want to take vaccines away from people. But much of his life's work says otherwise. In light of the continued support for the orange enemy of the state after revelations of his plot to steal the 2020 election, I don't think I know what trumples will do next. I'm not sure I want to.

I thought I knew whether trumples liked the idea of having their bank deposits insured up to $250K. Especially given the insurance is paid for by the banks who make money from said deposits. But the idea of ending FDIC insurance is being floated by the guy who has won trumples' hearts. A truly "it ain't broke don't fix it" moment. I get the impression if Dear Leader is for it, trumples are too. Though I'm not sure they know why. I do know why the banks are for it.

Deregulation is upon us and folks on Wall St. are excited about the prospects. Just as they were before the Great Depression, the S&L crisis, and Shrub's Great Recession. Jeff Bezos is so excited he contributed $1M to trump's inauguration. Or maybe that was a payoff to keep the incoming trump admin from going after him and his businesses. As was the $1M contribution made by Mark Zuckerberg. I don't know.

Should we abandon the fight against climate change, "suspend approval for vaccines," abolish the FBI, withdraw from alliances, criminalize dissent, forsake allies, purify the populace, initiate trade wars, trivialize ethics, enrich the rich, give tacit approval to governmental intimidation, elevate the executive branch, and seek to marginalize half the population? Do these things strengthen the nation?

I don't think they do. I would not have thought other Americans did either. But I was wrong about that.
The vaccine became part of the religion on the Left. It became the litmus test as to whether or not you were an anti-science hating MAGite piece of garbage or someone who dutifully followed Fauci's every word.

In their quest to purify the herd, Joe Biden and company censored all dissent and had those who refused to get the jab fired or thrown out of school, etc. Meanwhile, Europe started to ban some of the vaccines, such as the Moderna vaccine, because young men were getting endocarditis and dying at alarming rates after getting the vaccine. But in the US a cult had formed within the elite political clergy, so much so, that they could not bring themselves to even entertain the notion that some people may actually be harmed by the vaccine in any way, and refused to follow the science and ban the vaccine for certain segments of the population as Europe had. Then you had Left wing jerks like Kimmel get up and say that those who did not get the jab should not even get medical care, as if that is even funny.

To drive home the point on a personal level, I know a lady who got the jab and started to have incapacitating headaches afterwards, so much so she missed months of work. When she got to the doctor, she began to ask the staff if they thought the vaccine had anything to do with the headaches. The look of fear on the faces of the medical staff said it all. They were petrified of saying anything negative about the vaccine, and refused to answer. Then he doctor took her privately aside and said, "Yea, probably should not get another vaccine after this." The headaches finally went away, luckily.

No need for hyperbole. Wait..........I guess there is.

I see. Sounds like another conspiracy theory.

Almost. I got a booster about a month ago. BTW, I got COVID while traveling in Italy after being up to date on my vaccine shots. I had mild symptoms.

Wow!! So how many boosters have you had? 8? 12?

So, the vaccine failed to prevent infection despite numerous boosters.

Joe Biden and company politicized the vaccine horribly.

Trump was the one who pushed the vaccine through, and I remember when he did Kamala and company said they would not get the "Trump vaccine" if he did, as they continued to say he was doing NOTHING about the Covid crisis. But Trump continued to tell the American people during the Presidential debate that a vaccine was soon on the way, which Joe Biden said was a lie.

Then after Trump lost, a few days after the election, corporations announced that the vaccine was ready for use. Did they purposefully wait until after the election? The timing seemed awfully odd. The next thing you know, the Left adopts the vaccine as their own as the bludgeoned everyone within striking distance of they did not get the vaccine, all the while forgetting that Trump was even the reason the vaccine came out as early as it did.

Joe Biden is probably the most disgusting, hate filled partisan hack that weaponizes every facet of government against his political opponents I can remember in American history.

All of this simplistic distrust had been growing since the day Limbaugh went national. Because it was a slow build, most of us across the political spectrum just didn't see it.

At some point, it crossed the line from healthy, reasonable cynicism to abject, consiracy-laden paranoia. It's a been all downhill from there, and now they just want to bring it all down.
After what happened in Vietnam, then Watergate, then learning about J E Hoover, etc., I get it. And you're right, healthy cynicism is needed to keep the powerful in check. Paradoxically, trumples want to give Dear Leader inordinate power to do as he pleases.

Yep, that's what happens when you don't follow Democrat rules. Wear a mask, stay 5 ft away from others, don't socialize, etc.

It can't prevent infection. I get boosters to lessen the symptoms. You do understand the mortality rate has been greatly reduced thanks to the vaccine, right?

When a person is willing to split up their family and throw their religion under the bus, they have to be both miserable and desperate.

My wife and I had delayed our trip to Italy until after the vaccine was available. After being around others was safer. Rome, Florence, Venice, were all very crowded. As were the airports. I'm not surprised I got COVID. But I wouldn't have gone without getting a vaccine.

They've abandoned so much in the way of ethical/moral standards to justify support for a demagogue I don't recognize them any longer.

Stopped reading right there....If you can't even start a thread without insulting half of the country, you're not worth reading.....
But you support trumpery. Why do you find the word so offensive?
