Trump to end LGBTQ crisis hotline… why?

With a cost of 33 million? How much does that break down per call of tax payer money? Almost $48K per call? and how many didn't commit sucide? what's the success rate? That's literally more then the yearly salary of many publc school teachers, maybe we should fund schools, instead of a hot line. and people could just not tell the call line they are gay before talking to a crisis manager?
Wow dude. You’re really showing off your ignorance here. I’ve seen 988 costs per call analysis fall between $15-$82 a call) by comparison 911 averages well over $1000 per call.

Your $48k per call is laughable. Do better

If there are kids in crisis there are counselors and doctors and therapists available free of charge in some cases... the federal government does not belong in the "hotline" business.... Are the people answering calls licensed doctors and therapists?... if they are this program must be expensive as hell.... and if they are not a lot of damage can be done....
Well like it or not the line is set up for mental health crisis, just like 911 is set up for emergency services. Do you want to cut that too?

I know and I quoted the link showing the crisis line still exist.
And I posted a link showing what Trump was cutting off and that’s what the thread is about. Try and keep up

like what? Why don't we have one specifically for women? or straight people? or blacks? or asians? When does it end? Why not just have one line that deals with everyone?
The categories target specific issues that major groups of people deal with. It better matches professionals with expertise in those areas. They are currently set up for Suicide crisis management, veterans issues, LGBTQ, and Indigenous people who are groups that have high suicide rates.

To your point, sure, if another group shows trends in high suicide rates and we can pair them with professionals qualified to help support them then go for it. The more the better.

No... 911 serves all the people not just a small fraction... and without 911 people would not get police and fire services... without this LGBTQ hotline there are other private sector options...

Dude, there are all kinds of hotlines for people. Im not going to get upset when they can just use another phone number.
Its a state issue anyway. I like how you keep ignoring that, and just whine and trash talk.
Grow up.
Its pretty simple. States and private orgs have their own efforts for this and thats great. The 988 hotline exists like 911 to give a lifeline of support to those in crisis and it has massive engagement. Saying that there are other numbers out there doesn't justify cutting of a line that is taking in over 2000 contacts a day from people in need... mostly children.

Yup. 700 kids a day reaching out for help because they are in crisis. That’s huge
I get you are a dembot and suck at math, but 700 divided by 340.1 million is far far far far huge.

What's huge is the $47K you want to spend on each call

Geez, did you not read your link? $33 million is what the option 3 cost....read your link, 700 divide by $33 million....geez you are dumb as a rock

The other lines are far cheaper, because people actually use them

I understand debate about trans in sports and locker rooms etc. but why in the world would anybody end a crisis hotline that receives over 2000 calls a day? These are youth who are suicidal and in crisis reaching out for help. And there’s no plan or effort to replace the assistance with anything.

Play your political games all you want but cutting off a lifeline to people in need of help is just cruel.

Does anybody want to try and justify this?

Because, YOU people are more in tune with this stuff. Take up a GO FUND ME PAGE, and do something about it.

If you really care, and honestly believe what you say, you should be the very 1st in line trying to help.

You posted a headline, and clicked on it, but your link showed it was full of shit, because the crisis line still exist

when you call 988, no it doesn't give you all those different options. Try again

SAMHSA [the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration] insisted that affected youths can still receive help, but from the general hotline number.

'Everyone who contacts the 988 Lifeline will continue to receive access to skilled, caring, culturally competent crisis counselors who can help with suicidal, substance misuse, or mental health crises, or any other kind of emotional distress. Anyone who calls the Lifeline will continue to receive compassion and help,' the agency said.
Yes they can still get on the line with somebody. But who? An army vet councelor specialize to help people with PTSD? A evenagelical Christian councelor who thinks being gay is a sin but who is trained to help women with domestic abuse issues?

Cutting off a specialized line lessens the effectiveness of the service. And it sends a message that we who run the line do not think LGBTQ issues are significant. We are going to cut the specialized support. That in turn disincentives people to reach out. As a result suicide rates go up... You see the cause and effects don't you?

988 serves all people suffering with mental health issues and to better serve the most at risk people of suicide... veterans, lgbtq, native americans, they have made a specialized options to pair them with counselors more qualified to help.

340 million isn't the daily budget genius

The Vets are connected to the VA. Gay people don’t have a special cabinet level office for them being gay

15th post
It should not be paid for with public money.
The government is paying for several suicide lines, one of which is for LGBTQ.

And that is the ONLY one Trump is defunding.

Like I keep saying. The only thing I can see the Know Nothing party is about is their hatred of non-whites and trannies.

Holy shit, no it’s the population of the United States, 700 people out of 340.1 million isn’t huge

The cost is 33 million, divide that by the 700 calls is the price per call

Wow you are really dumb
