I think he realizes that the Neo-Cons poached some of the members of his administration to ensure permanent roadblocks. This has handcuffed him and made him feel that dark feeling of helplessness.

The mid-terms will almost certainly go against him though he is going to fight hard with checks to citizens from tariffs and drive investment in the U.S to keep wages higher and precipitate employment expansion of Americans, not illegals.

His second term started off so well but he didn't stay the course and it's been difficult to reclaim the momentum. The peace talks in Ukraine could help, he can still save the West, his messaging has been off the mark for certain, he needs to hire a better P.R campaign to promote the message as there has been a deficit in this regard.
