What happens at 8 p.m.? Even Trump’s allies aren’t sure.

As the clock ticks down to President Donald Trump’s Tuesday evening deadline to reach a war-ending deal with Iran, Gulf Arab countries are in the dark. The U.S.’s European allies are clueless. Even people close to the White House are unsure what’s next.

And Trump’s Tuesday morning threat that ā€œa whole civilization will die tonightā€ — unless ā€œsomething revolutionarily wonderfulā€ happens in the scant hours that remain — has some fearing the worst case scenario: that the president would use nuclear weapons against Iran.

It is exactly the kind of made-for-television, edge-of-your-seat moment that has become one of the president’s hallmarks — replete with a primetime deadline. And it comes with a grim, apocalyptic tinge that has left Washington — and indeed, the world — on a knife’s edge.

Never mind allies (does he have any), I don't think trump is sure either. The market is betting against $5 gas and the economic chaos it would cause or it would be down big today. But that implies a degree of rationality, so far absent from the decisions being made by the guy who is threatening the end of a civilization.

IMO, Don is about the last guy we want to be in a position like this. Cuz he's a sociopath. The fact that what he's going to decide is so unpredictable is evidence of that. Regrettably, in this regime, there are no adults in the room. Get your popcorn ready and stay tuned.

I picture every corrupted shill on your side with this. All of those entertainers/media exterminated would be a start. A Pakistan two-week delay is being proposed and that is foolish. We have an election coming up and this has to end. Otherwise get out of there. Promises were made and they are fading.

Fingers crossed. This would give Trump the out he so desperately needs, but who knows what Iran is thinking.

My guess is that Pakistan wouldn't say this if things weren't improving, but...
Maybe it gives both sides an opportunity to pause and reconsider the path forward. It also gives more time for diplomacy to work.

I would be surprised if anything happens right at 8pm.

Likely it will hold for a little bit, like a dramatic pause.

Or Iran could just comply.

Why would Iran blow up foreign ships because they are mad at the USA?

It is bizarre asymmetrical warfare.

If you are mad at the guy down the street, do you threaten to blow up your neighbors house?

Comply w/what exactly?

Spell it out.

Iran wants a 2-week ceasefire, Trump said "a deal if you open Hormuz for 2-weeks too"

Probably not happening.

You children think it’s a Trump Show which is why you are terminally mentally and emotionally defective
This is no video game
Hundreds if not thousands will die but millions will be saved. And all the soulless lib children can do is chirp their TDS.

The proposal was made by the Pakistan PM. It's a big ask for Iran to open the Strait with no assurances beyond two weeks but even a ceasefire would be a positive step.

Dotard is the wildcard, as always. Given a choice between reason and recklessness I'm leaning towards reckless based on his track record. I wish he had better people as advisers.

Iran updates: Pakistan seeks 2-week pause after Trump warns ā€˜whole civilization will die’ if no deal by deadline

Oil dropped on the news. Now what?
Oil dropped? He'll buy oil futures & clean up when the price goes up & he dumps them.

Remember, he has immunity.

Asked about the status of talks with Iran, White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said in a statement that ā€œonly the president knows where things stand and what he will doā€

There's the problem right there.

I wish Obama didn't give Iran $56,000,000,000
