Trump has gone CRAZY IVAN on Tariffs--trade war in process, look out below consumers!

Tariffs have never created a single job in this country, but they've been proven great for job loss's. Now we're in a trade war with several countries. Prices go up on American consumers, you'll pay a lot more for cars, appliances, food & clothing. Then American exports will go down, and it becomes a domino effect on the entire economy. The Federal Reserve jumps in to control inflation, then it gets harder to get a mortgage loan, or short term loans for cars and there goes new construction, and auto manufacturing. Consumers eventually cut back on their spending and the job loss's start in every sector.

Ironically enough these tariffs are going to hit the Trump voter the worst. Those living in rural areas, agriculture, pork & beef, auto manufacturing that voted for Trump and yes when auto manufacturing sales decrease, so does steel and aluminum sales. Well the one thing you can say about Trump he does keep his promises. While he was campaigning on tariffs there was a lot of cheering going on at his rallies. The Stock market will be taking some fairly good hits on this one too. You voted for it, you got it!

You might want to actually consider voting Democrat this coming November.
House & Senate Republicans have proven time and time again they cannot control Trump, and they are stickly against taxes and or tariffs for the reasons above.. Democrats will at least impeach him. Trump has stated if Democrats take over one or both houses of congress, he knows they will impeach him. Once he's gone so are the tariffs. You had a brain fart in 2016, admit it, now FIX it.

Bring it on. The American worker is tired of being fucked over. Kick all the H1Bs and migrants out of the country and see how that affects their homeland.

Will you tow that line when beer and cokes cost 10% more? Those tariffs cost will be passed down to us. We pay that, not them.

Once again we thought liberals wanted a living wage?
I'm a Reaganomics guy, and I wasn't aware that wages were tied to me having to support workers who didn't get the job done very well.

Say what ever hear of sweat shops in Asia?

The Globalist 'Gift' to American Workers. Hear that sound? It's the Globalists sucking all the good-paying jobs out of America. I don't give a damn how much they complain about Trump. He's making an honorable effort to help American Workers. God bless em.

No you're doing a bate (-: and switch. Clever rhetoric but dishonest. We were discussing EU tariffs not Asia. We don't buy Chinese and SK steel sold below cost.

Anytime costs are driven up by taxes or tariffs the consumers get a big stick shoved up a dark spot. Tariffs are good for NO ONE.

Yup. We will see how this go’s a year down the road if it don’t resolve fast.

Well if All he's doing is playing Crazy Ivan in getting a better deal from the EU on import quotas it could all be good. The US steel industry was hammered in the 70s and early 80s by lousy union contracts, a lot of retiree healthcare and pensions, falling demand and unfair trade from .... ASIA. We don't buy steel from them as a result. But also as a result US mftrs stopped being world leaders in the entire process of iron ore to steel. We have firms that reprocess steel. But we pretty much suck at what we used to do in places like Bessemer Ala.

If a temporary ban on some amt of imports can help get the industry on it's feet. Great. Ford's Taurus benefitted from car quotas with Japan. Eventually Japan and Germany began building cars here to avoid any quota issue. I got a Nissan plant 30 miles from my house. It's great.

You can renegotiate trade deals WITHOUT tariffs, and starting trade wars. Mexico and Canada both offered to do that months ago.

Economically tariffs are worse than taxes. Taxes can be good if they go to increasing productivity with education and infrastructure because we can produce more with less cost, which means we HAVE MORE.

Tariffs by design require consumers to buy less well produced goods. They are a self-imposed trade sanction.

That does not mean we should import stuff that is being sold below cost to hurt US companies. And it does not mean the auto import quotas that led to Japan and German employing US workers to build stuff led to less well built for lowest cost cars.

And there's no economic argument against taxing stock buybacks or sales of stock resulting in capital gains by corporations gaining more profit from lower wages .... so long as the tax receipts don't just add to overall spending in the economy. IE there's nothing economically wrong with it so long as the result is less debt either in govt debt or the amount of medical bills that aren't paid because people go into bankruptcy and the cost is passed on to other consumers. There are social arguments, though.

As far as your nationalist comment regarding American jobs. I want you to imagine Apple. They provided the IPhone. Now imagine everyone in this country bought an I phone and no one needed another. Do you expect Apple should just close its doors and lay off thousands?

The reason manufacturing has moved overseas is because people in underdeveloped nations can then afford to buy an Iphone which keeps Apple in business. The benefit to you is you're not paying $1500.00 to $2000.00 dollars for an Iphone that is manufactured in the states where employers are required to pay social security, Medicare, unemployment insurance, workman's compensation insurance and medical insurance.

Without the Global economy, this country would not survive.

Everything that is made out of steel will not cost more to make and prices will go up across the board as steel is a ubiquitous building material. The entire economy is going to suffer greatly because of this one thing. And orange turd thinks this will 'work' with other things.

Derps who see a .1 percent drop in unemployment and cheer, enjoy the moment. A lot of bad shit is coming and that is from Republicans.

I guess that I can live with Trump's trade war for the rest of his term. I have already bought my Honda Accord, and I don't work for Harley-Davidson, which is now getting a retaliatory tariff from Europe. I don't work for a brewery, which is suffering a retaliatory tariff from Canada. I don't farm soybeans and wheat, so I am not being hurt by Mexico's retaliatory tariff's on that. Since I am retired, I don't buy any steel products worth mentioning. But, I will sure will miss my morning caffeine boost with my can of Dr. Pepper. I guess that I could switch to Columbia grown coffee.

For the millionth time I thought you guys wanted higher wages ?????

Wait you really get it now minimum wage is just a tax on us , like tariffs???
We should all want higher wages, our weak middle class is our main problem. Tariffs have never lead to higher wages...

Yes we had tariffs to fund the government. We have income tax now. You think we need more taxes and should have both?

Wow, 500 jobs. And how much will it cost manufacturing? Well Bush did steel tariffs:
The effects of higher steel prices, largely a result of the steel tariffs, led to a loss of nearly 200,000 jobs in the steel-consuming sector, a loss larger than the total employment of 187,500 in the steel-producing sector at the time.

But you are ignoring simple fact tariffs bring jobs and higher wages, what's so complicated to understand ?
