It was indeed the USSR under Gorbachev that had set the inevitable reunification between East and West- Germany - whilst only demanding DM (Deutsch Marks 4 billion) to pull out Russian troops from East-Germany, Poland and Czechoslovakia. The Americans paid NOTHING.

It was however the USA, Britain and France that OBJECTED towards the German reunification - whilst pressing for special conditions - such as US bases in Germany paid for by Germany, no juristic access towards US troops committing crimes in Germany, and that Germany is NOT ALLOWED to possess nuke weapons !!!

And Poland - just as it is today - was created and enabled by the USSR after WW2.
