Trump says US will '100%' stay in NATO if alliance treats America 'fairly'

Which is why the Republican objection to Ukraine aid is so puzzling
Why after US deploying troops to Vietnam, Kuwait, Iraq, Afghanistan does the GOP object to the U.S. staying out of it and letting Ukraine fight?
Does it matter? If one of our warmongering so-called two parties have finally found a conflict that they don’t want Americans to die in, shouldn’t we celebrate?

Trump has no respect for the NATO alliance that has kept the peace for 80 years
To him, the value of the alliance is measured as a cash register. Who pays what is his only concern

He has made it clear he will not honor Article 5 to defend a member if attacked
He has also pandered to Putin’s aggression as he rooted against NATO

Yes, Trump is dangerous. He already attacked NATO in his first term.

And he doesn't understand the differences between the US and its warring and the money spent on this warring, and other countries who don't go warring.

The US spends HUGE AMOUNTS of money on the healthcare of troops because they got injured in Iraq, Afghanistan or other places. Germany and many other NATO countries don't have this. So clearly their military spending will be different. But the US spending money on people's healthcare doesn't help NATO one little bit.

I think the issue should not be that NATO does not spend enough on its military but that the US spends too much

The US spends 38 cents out of every military dollar in the world

Again, the US doesn't spend all that money on NATO.

What does Germany spend its military money on? Not invading Iraq because Germany doesn't do much. Germany has a military that's there and ready to go. Half of the US's military isn't ready because it's elsewhere.

Trump doesn't want to understand this. His supporters don't want to understand this. They want to play the victim and they won't like the results if they get what they want.
