Exactly! The gift of the Holy Ghost to be a constant companion is given by the laying on of hands after the baptism. Jesus was first baptized and after coming up out of the water he received the Holy Ghost by his Father in Heaven. The Holy Ghost does influence people when they have an honest reason to know the truth. That’s how we gain a testimony of the restored gospel so we desire and know to be baptized by those who have authority do so.
But, once again, you dodged the fatal blow in the Catholic doctrine. Women claiming to become priests at baptism yet are denied your priesthood callings. If you are a priest then you should be able to be ordained one. But, your doctrine says no you cannot become a priest or a Holy Father. You cannot have that authority and power. That doesn’t mean you can’t be influenced by the Holy Ghost. It’s that he is not a constant companion and had that blessing by the laying on of hands by one with authority. I was Jewish and received the influence of the Holy Ghost to know Jesus is the Messiah and the Son of God. I received the same influence not to join any other church including the Catholic Church. I received the influence of the Holy Ghost to join Jesus Christ’s restored church.
As far as prophets, you can have the light of Christ and the influence of the Holy Ghost for decisions for your life and for the lives of your husband and children that you have authority over. No one else. A prophet, seer and revelator has much more responsibility. Deborah, who judged Israel, never was a priest of Aaron. Her husband was and therefore was known as a prophetess. Not because of priesthood authority. She shared in the blessings of the priesthood and was influenced by the Holy Ghost and the light of Christ.
