Time To Admit That 'Liberal'...

...is spelled s-o-c-i-a-l-i-s-t.

And that's not American.

1. Those of us who have studied history have been saying it all along.
Socialists are, colloquially and correctly called Liberals...or, Modern Liberals if you prefer.

Communist John Dewey persuaded the Socialist Party to steal the name Liberal, and their control of the media has cemented the term for them....much as they now call their homes 'Blue States' when communists, socialists, anarchists have always been represented as 'Red.'

Classical Liberals, called conservatives today, and the Founders, stood for
individualism, free markets, and limited constitutional government.

The Leftists called Liberals stand for something quite different:
the collective, command and control regulation of private industry, and overarching government that can order every aspect of the private citizen's life....right down to control of his thoughts and speech.

2. "Socialism had the lowest percentage positive rating and the highest negative rating of any term tested. Still, more than a third of Americans say they have a positive image of socialism.

Exactly how Americans define "socialism" or what exactly they think of when they hear the word is not known. The research simply measures Americans' reactions when a survey interviewer reads the word to them -- an exercise that helps shed light on connotations associated with this frequently used term.

There are significant differences in reactions to "socialism" across ideological and partisan groups:

· A majority of 53% of Democrats have a positive image of socialism, compared to 17% of Republicans.

· Sixty-one percent of liberals say their image of socialism is positive, compared to 39% of moderates and 20% of conservatives."
Socialism Viewed Positively by 36% of Americans

3. "Democrats see major upset as socialist beats top-ranking US congressman
Joe Crowley, 10-term Democrat expected to be party’s next House leader, loses to Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, 28, in New York

4. And lots of Democrats voted for full-bore Communist, Bernie Sanders.

You've got it backasswards, as usual.

You should get down on your knees and kiss the ground of the country that allows someone of any political persuasion to run for political office.

Putin doesn't allow that and he's still a communist.

Fun to see you so threatened by a 28-year-old woman who doesn't hide behind a computer screen and spew bile. She's out there taking the shots, something you could never do.

Who did you vote for for President?

Now....what did you say about 'backwards'?

Democratic Sen. Claire McCaskill (Mo.) used a personal foundation to pay for a dinner she attended at Russian ambassador Sergey Kislyak's Washington, D.C., residence. The senator had failed to disclose her role in the foundation until earlier this month.

McCaskill came under fire this March after she told the Washington Post she never had a "call or meeting" with Kislyak even though she had publicly announced both a call and meeting with him. This week, CNN reportedthat McCaskill also attended a black-tie reception at Kislyak's D.C. residence in November 2015.

McCaskill's attendance at the dinner was accompanied by an $873 payment to the American-Russian Cultural Cooperation Foundation, where Kislyak serves on its board of directors as honorary chairman."

Income taxes are not to redistribute wealth what the hell are you smoking? Neither is Social Security, I pay only enough to receive the maximum benefit. Anything I earn over $128,700 is not subject to the social security tax e.g. I'm not paying the social security tax for deadbeat lazy fat ass losers. Also if you don't pay into SS you don't get SS.
You're saying that the government does not redistribute wealth via income taxes? Holy crap.

Okay, throw that one out. We have Medicare and Medicaid. And several federal departments.

Are we a socialist country?

You may want to check the federal budget and note what they actually spend the money on.

Weak pussy? Shit man, you're talking about the second in charge of the greatest gang of criminals never caught by the law. Of course, Hillary, that mastermind super duper criminal felon is number uno.

Better watch out I heard a rumor about Hillary herself going out an "Vince Foster'ing" the opposition. Obama also has the entire DC area "tapped".

Very tough hombres, very tough.

I'll bite Mac. I think it is fair to say we are a socialist country. I don't believe income tax is redistribution. Medicare and medicaid are indeed socialist programs. Social security is not. I know you just want republicans to admit we live in a socialist country, but it seems pretty obvious that most republican voters don't want to go full Bernie Sanders and start huge untargeted programs that can't be paid for like education for all, or medicaid for all. It is also pretty clear people don't want a de Blasio regulating how much cola we should drink. It still puzzles me why dems want safety net programs that give free health care to people who make a lot of money, and are against narrowing the parameters of aid to people who actually need it. Also, when medicare was first introduced, didn't it cause an explosion in the price of health care. There was no better way to do it? I don't mind helping people, just please make it people who need it, and don't kill the desire to succeed. Also, should dems apologize for creating an epidemic of single mothers. They designed a system where women were better off with baby daddies and no fathers.

Clearly, today's Democrat Party has become a pale version of the Bolsheviks.

What is jaw-droppingly astounding is the answer to this question:

...on the political spectrum, is today’s Democrat Party closer to John F. Kennedy, or Lee Harvey Oswald?

You know the answer.

It's not about getting you to admit anything. It's about breaking away from this simplistic, binary approach/habit of calling everything that isn't nailed down "socialist". This stuff exists on a continuum. Finland is less "socialist" than Venezuela, England is less "socialist" than Finland, America is less "socialist" than England. If we're going to have a serious conversation on an important topic, shouldn't we at least agree on the definition of the topic?

The Left has done the same thing with "racist". They've completely over-used the term to the point where it pretty much means anything. Or nothing. That's one of the primary reasons we can't have an honest conversation on race. Don't we want an honest conversation on socialism?

Thanks very much for the thoughtful, civil response, by the way.
.

That makes sense Mac. Socialism doesn't have to become the new 'racism.' I don't think there is any bad intent by the blanket use, but it is having an adverse effect. For me personally, it is creating aid for those who don't need it and the harmful effects of good intentions. I also really like my big dang Cola.. GRRR

Also, when I think socialism, I think of secular exclusion. I don't think the left fears a theocracy, I think they go out of their way to target Christians. It is like you can't have a God, you can only have government. It seems like a specific target. Maybe if they kill off religion to a higher extent, it will make it easier for people to give up freedom for government power? I'm not deeply religious, not a church goer, but I was brought up in a traditional Christian home. I'm curious Mac, why do Democrats love Europe and globalism? How does globalism and liberalism match? Should that be part of my view of 'socialism?'

Pretty much in line with our thread today!

Thank you!

One thing further....they shielded Bernie, using 'Democratic Socialist,' when he is a dyed in the wool communist.

1. " [At] the University of Chicago, Sanders joined the Young People’s Socialist League, the youth wing of the Socialist Party USA. He also organized for a communist front, the United Packinghouse Workers Union, which at the time was under investigation by the House Committee on Un-American Activities.

2. ...graduating with a political science degree, Sanders moved to Vermont, where he headed the American People’s History Society, an organ for Marxist propaganda. There, he produced a glowing documentary on the life of socialist revolutionary Eugene Debs, who was jailed for espionage during the Red Scare and hailed by the Bolsheviks as “America’s greatest Marxist.” Don’t be fooled by Bernie Sanders — he’s a diehard communist | New York Post

But ".... the liberal media elite have suddenly stopped calling him socialist. He’s now cleaned up as a “progressive” or “pragmatist.” NYPost, Op. Cit.

Socialist....communist....and Progressive.....

Distinctions without differences.

3." ... Sanders helped found the Liberty Union Party, which called for the nationalization of all US banks and the public takeover of all private utility companies. [Before Maxine Waters, too!]

... Sanders in 1981 managed to get elected mayor of Burlington, Vt., where he restricted property rights for landlords, set price controls and raised property taxes to pay for communal land trusts. Local small businesses distributed fliers complaining their new mayor “does not believe in free enterprise.”

4. His radical activities didn’t stop at the water’s edge. Sanders took several “goodwill” trips not only to the USSR, but also to Cuba and Nicaragua, where the Soviets were trying to expand their influence in our hemisphere.

In 1985, he traveled to Managua to celebrate the rise to power of the Marxist-Leninist Sandinista government. He called it a “heroic revolution.” Undermining anti-communist US policy, Sanders denounced the Reagan administration’s backing of the Contra rebels in a letter to the Sandinistas.

“The Sandinista government has more support among the Nicaraguan people — substantially more support — than Ronald Reagan has among the American people,” Sanders told Vermont government-access TV in 1985." Don’t be fooled by Bernie Sanders — he’s a diehard communist | New York Post

5. "Sanders also adopted a Soviet sister city outside Moscow and honeymooned with his second wife in the USSR. He put up a Soviet flag in his office, shocking even the Birkenstock-wearing local liberals. At the time, the Evil Empire was on the march around the world, and threatening the US with nuclear annihilation.

Then, in 1989, as the West was on the verge of winning the Cold War, Sanders addressed the national conference of the US Peace Council — a known front for the Communist Party USA, whose members swore an oath not only to the Soviet Union but to “the triumph of Soviet power in the US.” Don’t be fooled by Bernie Sanders — he’s a diehard communist | New York Post

6."Today, Sanders wants to bring what he admired in the USSR, Cuba, Nicaragua and other communist states to America.

This is your party if you vote Democrat.
