This One is Not Going to Work

The difference is the US and state gov'ts won't be wasting all the money to print every gov't document in 180 different languages. If a person immigrates to the US, it is incumbent on them to assimilate, not vice versa.
Millions of US citizens do not speak English as their first language.

Excellent. Stop offering documents or assistance in other languages. If you want to be here, speak English. If you want to be fluent in 7 languages, great; but 1 of them better be English.
If you're an American, speak whatever the hell you want.

Traffic and road direction signs - dunce
This is a traffic sign - dunce:

I didn't say all place names need to be translated into English.
So some official place names won't be written in the official language? :auiqs.jpg:
If a person gets stopped by a traffic cop and they don't speak or understand English, and the cop doesn't speak their language, then everything for a translator to be found ???
I have no idea what local police policies currently are.
Sounds like you might need some remedial English yourself - dunce.
You'll be needing Spanish too once Mexico copies Trump and make Spanish their official language, good luck finding your gate at Cancun airport you trumpanzee hickbilly.

14th Amendment for one. Day to day functioning of the government in general.

Do government employees not speak English or something? Do you know of any American government office that conducts its business in a foreign language?

Last I heard, it was still the government of the United States.

Government offices in many places are staffed by multilingual people. Many private companies as well. More and more all the time.

For some reason he just started this thread to be an asshole. Don't waste your time.

"He" started this thread to discuss a current event.

Well...I guess it has some symbolic value..people are going to speak whatever language they wish.
Some will make a big deal about this..perceiving it as victory or loss--but really...just a 'meh' to me~

President Donald Trump is expected to sign an executive order on Friday designating English as the official language of the United States, according to the White House.

The order will allow government agencies and organizations that receive federal funding to choose whether to continue to offer documents and services in language other than English, according to a fact sheet about the impending order.

It was not immediately clear when on Friday that Trump planned to sign the order.

The executive order will rescind a mandate from former President Bill Clinton that required the government and organizations that received federal funding to provide language assistance to non-English speakers.

Designating English as the national language “promotes unity, establishes efficiency in government operations, and creates a pathway for civic engagement,” according to the White House.

More than 30 states have already passed laws designating English as their official language, according to U.S. English, a group that advocates for making English the official language in the United States.

For decades, lawmakers in Congress have introduced legislation to designate English as the official language of the U.S., but those efforts have not succeeded.
Another example of Trump's racism, bigotry, and hate.

The 14th Amendment protects isnt even an issue.

The functioning of the government won’t be an issue, either. Not in general and hardly even as an occasional and isolated problem.

designating a language does not invalidate anyone's rights dumb ass.

If you can't vote, your rights are being violated. The same shit democrats in the former Confederacy tried to pull on the newly freed slaves.

Sort of like now.
