Trying to make an "official language" for the US is not going to work. Too many practical and constitutional problems with the idea.

If you want people to understand what they are signing, agreeing to, or voting for, it helps for them to be able to read or listen to it. If police have to arrest someone they have to read them their Miranda rights. Part of that is confirming that the subject understands the rights as read to them. You can think of a hundred more examples if you think about it for a minute.

Funny story, I had a buddy of mine his parents immigrated from Cuba. He was born here, ended up joining the army became a sniper. Only person I ever met who could shoot better than me. He got his engineering degree that’s how we met at my first company. The company was struggling. I realized that as soon as I started my first day, I left in three years for a much better gig and so did he. He went to Detroit/Livonia area. He called me up about six months later, he was doing the paper written application for his drivers license. They were out of English and only Spanish available at the time. Good for him he actually he actually spoke and read it decently because of his parents. He actually passed it even he couldn’t believe they were out of English.

You mean he wants to rename Spanish place name to English too? That means every Los Angeles road sign must be taken down and replaced with The Angels, that's gonna take money, another own goal - oh and lets not forget all those maps too.

You said 14th amendment, but that's not right. Many countries with birthright citizenship have official languages, such as most in central and south America.

But Congress may by a vote of two-thirds of each House, remove such disability.

Section 4

The validity of the public debt of the United States, authorized by law, including debts incurred for payment of pensions and bounties for services in suppressing insurrection or rebellion, shall not be questioned. But neither the United States nor any State shall assume or pay any debt or obligation incurred in aid of insurrection or rebellion against the United States, or any claim for the loss or emancipation of any slave; but all such debts, obligations and claims shall be held illegal and void.

It's the beginning of a process. People coming here need to be incentivized to learn our language. Making it official will help do that.

Excellent. Stop offering documents or assistance in other languages. If you want to be here, speak English. If you want to be fluent in 7 languages, great; but 1 of them better be English.
