The Trump treatment.

Not sure suggesting "justice" can be bought is a winning message...
It's a fact whether it's a winning message or not.

ā€˜Itā€™s clearly strategicā€™: Why Trump kept attacking judgesā€™ families

ā€œItā€™s clearly strategic,ā€ said Ty Cobb, who served as a White House lawyer under Trump but has become a frequent critic of the former president.

ā€œHis attacks are designed around his traditional approach to delegitimizing the proceedings.ā€

When you are one of those who have contributed to Don's defense it seems to me there are two choices. Recognize you've been duped or double down on devotion. The Trump devotees who post here have doubled down.

He is only guilty of political offenses.
He offended the politicians by illustrating how easily the country could be fixed.
They had to put an end to that -
But, they haven't.

There has been a fair amount of discussion lately about a two-tiered system of justice in America. It's unquestionably true how much justice you get in many circumstances depends on how much justice you can afford. And thanks to The Following, Trump can afford a lot.

Trump spent more than $55 million in donor money on legal fees last year, filings show

But what is happening in Don's case is not just an example of a two-tiered system as much as a unique system all his own. Nobody, NOBODY, has been given the deference he has received. Garland set the tone by not immediately launching the investigation he would eventually hand over to Jack Smith. Delaying because he did not want to give the appearance of a politicized DoJ after what Billy the Bagman did. Now trial after trial have succumbed to Don's stalling tactics. Added to that we have his abhorrent behavior when it comes to attacks on members of the justice system and their families. Constantly testing the limits of gag orders.

I have heard the point made our system of justice is ill-equipped to handle someone like Trump. I'm not so sure that is true. What is needed here is the will to apply the established methods to deal with his boorish behavior. Though the difficulty of doing so does need to be acknowledged when such an austere body as the SCOTUS is complicit in his strategy to delay the start of trials. Most notably in the inexplicably slow schedule it set to hear the meritless claim of president immunity.

By treating Don this way we have made a mockery of the principle that every man is equal before the law. We need not wait for such perversions to come back to haunt us. They already have.
If heā€™s being treated differently, itā€™s because of democrat judges. All the courts heā€™s in right now are in liberal areas with liberal judges. So, what exactly are you complaining about ?

Special Counsel Jack Smith Is Done With Judge Aileen Cannon And Lets It Show

In a new filing that bluntly confronts U.S. District Judge Aileen Cannon, Special Counsel Jack Smith takes a new tone of incredulousness and disdain for her mishandling of the Mar-a-Lago classified documents case.

The issue at hand is her failure to have yet ruled on Donald Trumpā€™s motion to dismiss based on his inane, unprecedented, and counterfactual reading of the Presidential Records Act. Instead of rejecting the argument out of hand, Cannon not only is entertaining it but ordered the two sides to propose jury instructions based on two different deeply flawed interpretations of the PRA.

That set up an nearly impossible challenge for Smith: How do you draft jury instructions that are so wrong on the law without looking like an idiot, undermining your own case, and pissing of the judge?

The answer: You canā€™t.

So Smith went all in, no longer trying to placate, educate, or hand-hold Cannon.

Smith ripped her interpretations of the PRA: ā€œboth of the Courtā€™s scenarios are fundamentally flawed and any jury instructions that reflect those scenarios would be error.ā€ He said her ā€œlegal premise is wrongā€ and her requested jury instructions ā€œwould distort the trial.ā€

Special Counsel Jack Smith Loses Patience With Judge Aileen Cannon

Not a great idea to antagonize a Trump toady but some things need to be done. She's made it clear she is unqualified to be on this case from the standpoint of experience, an understanding of the law, and a lack of impartiality. Good for Smith that he has called her out.

First, gag orders are unconstitutional. Prior restraint on speech is a clear violation of the First Amendment and the Supreme court has ruled it as such. Also when judges and prosecutors allow obvious political persecutions to advance it's a indicator of a two tiered justice system. Trump is just fortunate that he has the resources to fight the unequal application of our laws. xiden committed much more egregious violations of the law than Trump, yet he's not being prosecuted. Go figure.

Unwarranted, inappropriate deference ā€“ Trump is a criminal, no different than any other criminal, and should be brought to justice the same as any criminal.
Trump has been found guilty of nothing Mrs. Jones, and therefore not a criminal.
Do you ever get anything right Forrest?
