Zone1 The Ten Commandments don't apply to us.

The only way to remove sin is teaching the right way to do it.
God taught the Jews the right way to do it. And they failed miserably. Hence, the need to sacrifice to cover their sins.
If man could work there way to heaven the passion of Christ would not have been necessary.
There is only one way to remove sin. That way is to accept the gift of the cross because that is where your sin was nailed, and forgotten by God.

For I will be merciful toward their iniquities, and I will remember their sins no more By speaking of a new covenant, He has made the first one obsolete; and what is obsolete and aging will soon disappear.

Christ is the new covenant.

Our behavior (not mine 😇) is getting like in the days of Noah. Jesus said his return will be when our morals are "as in the days of Noah."

Well then, Jesus is never coming back.

Why did he come in the first place then?

Following God's ways versus following whatever one likes. Why is this so difficult for you to understand?

Why is it difficult for me to understand when I say one thing, and you talk about something completely different?

I don't know, I just can't put my finger on it.

Here is the explanation >> It never happened.
Take with you seven pairs of every kind of clean animal, a male and its mate, and one pair of every kind of unclean animal, a male and its mate, and also seven pairs of every kind of bird, male and female
^ ^ ^

no trout, no tuna.

See what I mean about you making assumptions based on scripture you know nothing about?
And:
Apparently God is better at ship building than humans. His design has been proven seaworthy. The wood that was used was water-resistant. Pitch made from the sap of the tree, covered the ark inside and out. God's design worked.

And do you remember what I said in the beginning? That Christians cherry pick massively.

So, you have one quote that says "take two of every creature", then you have another quote that says what you posted.

Then get into a debate about it, and you've just cherry picked the one which makes you argument.

It's not that difficult to PROVE that I'm right.

As for your comments about the ship. You're basically going against science and saying "well, God did it, so it could work". You just made something up, and you're going with it, no matter what the evidence is.

God said if you don't take care of your families you have denied the faith ...

the true influence, faith their beloved christian bible has wielded through the centuries - a curious yet obvious denial for the recordings uninterrupted from its beginning in the 4th century.

So you have no problem with posting quotes from the Quran in classrooms or the tenets of Hinduism?
I don't recall saying whether or not I have a problem with anything. I'm just pointing out the legal concern.

First Commandment proclaims …..You shall have no Gods before me

Clearly establishing a religion
And a quote from Harry Potter would establish Wizarding? Having a selection of text is not enforcing anything. The question is whether it might violate the establishment clause.

Though a Christian is under grace and not the Law, grace is not a ticket to purposely break the law. For sin is the transgression of the law and we're required to repent of our sins.

The 10 Commandments are a very pure & moral standard to live by. We're wise to incorporate them into our lives. They are, after all, the Words of God.

then provide the tablets you claim heavenly to prove your allegations - destroyed by the liar, never witnessed by anyone who are you to claim an authenticity for what never existed.

It's a question.

Private schools can do whatever they want in terms of religion, but public schools are paid for with tax dollars from Jews, Muslims, Buddhists, atheists. Don't they all deserve to be represented in schools just like the Christians?

Hebrews 10:16, "This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, saith the Lord, I will put my laws into their hearts, and in their minds will I write them;"

I'm not quite ready to give up my heart yet. Check back in around 10 years.

When you talk about President Trump, yes, I will attempt to turn the discussion back to religious discussion. You seemed to be set on whatever your definition is for "cherry-picking" while I was trying to explain the term goes back to God's ways as opposed to how easy it is for each to choose his/her individual way--it was that way since Adam and Eve. For some reason it astonishes you that President Trump chooses his own way. He is as human as the rest of us. Instead of speaking of the President, why not speak of one's own wrestling when one feels their way makes a great exception to God's way?

In a hypothetical case, I would happily support the posting of selected quotes from a variety of religions' texts if the goal (and content) was curricularly relevant. The selections are not ends but means so if a quote from Dostoevsky, MLK or Moses is related to the class goals and inspires thought and conversation, why not post it?

Agreed. Teaching about other cultures and religions is very educational and helps broaden the minds of students.

Teaching does little, if anything. It's practice that makes the difference. This goes for most subjects, even the minor ones. I can teach football, but it's not until football is put into practice that both student and teacher see the difference.

There's a difference between physical and academic activities although both do require application of skills and practice.

Still, rote learning is not the same as understanding. Understanding is not the same as practicing cursive writing.

We're not talking about God. We're talking about people.
