10 Commandments Upheld in Texas.

I firmly believe in the separation of church and state..........including public schools.

BUT............

If it is voted on by the parents of the school kids to be able to speak of it and talk about it...........then I see no problems with that.
This is how it is supposed to be done.......correctly and by Constitutional means.

AND..............

This is the "bible belt". So, they were going to win anyway.........ROFL

The separation of Church and State is misunderstood by many. There are many who believe religion should have no place in anything funded by the government. Actually, the Constitution is clear that government has no authority in religion. "Free exercise thereof"

The separation of church and state was created primarily to guarantee religious liberty, prevent government persecution, and protect religious institutions from state corruption. Founders like Thomas Jefferson and James Madison aimed to create a secular government where no religion is favored, protecting citizens' freedom of conscience and ending mandatory taxation for religious institutions.

So sayeth the Google.

They created a restriction on the Federal govt. re establishing a national established religion; some Federalists were pushing the Anglican Church as the national sect. The states could establish whatever they wanted to re churches, and many did; many of the colonies were themselves established by churches after all. Massachusetts was the last to dis-establish it's state preferred sect, the Congregationalists, in 1834. Demographic changes did it, not Supreme Court rulings; the SC has no more legal power to do so than any other Federal body has.

All school districts are independent and locally run, so yes, they can ban or unban as they see fit. They aren't required to take Federal money and the strings attached to it.

Another step on the way to the USSC, I’d guess. We’ll have to wait to see how they ultimately rule.

It's clear what the original intent was, regardless of whatever fad the SC wants to reflect. It's fashionable whims tend to do more harm than good and make for as much bad law as good. It's become a political football and sludge pit like the rest of govt.

Yeah...or not.
Jefferson's "wall of separation between church and state" had everything to do with preventing the government from interfering with the free exercise of religion and the establishment of a state-sponsored religion, like the Church of England.

It didn't have anything to do with creating a secular - that is, independent from religion - government; nothing in the 1st Amendment prevents he government from adopting religious values, or the recognition of same.

Religion has no place in school. It is the antithesis to what school is supposed to do. Make kids more knowledgeable and ready for adulthood.
Shoving religion down their throats doesnt do that. Save that silly bullshit for the home.
Good job texan religious fanatics. Now here comes the muslims and satanists. hahaha
