I've mentioned many times that 2016 taught me that America isn't what I thought it was. So many are so miserable and hateful and hopeless, many because they're listening to voices whose job it is to make it worse. That's the only way fascism can arise -- even Steve freakin' Bannon said that -- a desperate population.

It took me a full six or seven years to get my head around this. I get it now. Awful to watch. They think this person, of all people, will make them happy.

Right now the only group that can matter is congressional Republicans, who either put their foot down or they don't. Then there's the mid terms, which may take some of the edge off and give them an excuse to do so.

After that it's up to the Dems to get their shit together and provide an attractive alternative.

This certainly has been a lesson in history, answering the question everyone has always asked: "How did they let this happen?"

I saw a 9 minute video by Ted Stoermer titled , " The Constitution is Already Burning. " Totally insightful of what is happening today. He's a historian specializing in US History and National Politics. He teaches public history at John Hopkins University. You'd really enjoy this. Hope you have already seen it and / or can find it.
