I agree that all sides are uninterested in the well being of the US.

I don't think the US was God fearing, especially in the 20th century. The politician did what they did and got rich from it, and they used religion as a selling point to get elected.

JFK, catholic. First catholic president. And he liked his women, A LOT. Just like Trump.

I can remember watching "Black & White TV" when I was very young, outside of Cinti., Ohio, & many, many, many times when some Catastrophe happened, the News Casters prayed.

We had a Morning Prayer at every school in My District, with The Ten Commandments at the Front of the Class, above the Blackboard. Many a Teacher had a Bible, on their desk, that they used in their Teachings be it Math, Science, English, History.

In My Area,.........In the Late 50s, & even in the middle 60s,..... Many, many People were "God Fearing".

And, I still am.
