I am trying to understand what, exactly, anti-Semitism is. Is it merely a personal dislike of Jewish people, or is it a general opposition to their perceived ideologies? If the former, is it based on a belief that they are superior or inferior to other people in some way? If the latter, is it based on politics or some other factors? Is it the same as Racism?

Antisemitism is generally viewed as a bigoted attitude toward those of the Jewish faith. For example:

"All Jews must die," "All Jews are inferior to x," "All Jews are murderers," or "Jews should be forbidden to practice their faith."

What antisemitism is not is an informed objection to enacted policies of the Jewish State of Israel. Nor is it a support for the plight of the Palestinian citizenry. For example:

Well with all due respect, I think I'll trust his knowledge over yours, I don't think I can go far wrong following a Jew who grew up under the Nazis and was scheduled for extermination by them.

Have you heard of the word " discrimination"?

Discriminating based on age, religion, gender, colour, sex, height, ethnicity etc.. is ........... discrimination.

Decades ago, racism used to mean when you felt superior over another race (irrelevant of colour). Today it means disagreeing or saying hurty words against blacks.

I think racism is a belief in a racial hierarchy, wherein "lower" races have less value than "higher" races. Except for Nazi propaganda, I don't think that Jewish people are thought to have less value than other people.
