The most boring sports

me either, it's exhausting skating hard back and forth
if players cannot get off the PK for the entire 2 minutes
they get to the bench gasping for breath

hockey is a hard fast sport, that's what makes it so intense
oh and getting hit into the walls as well
But there are very likely very, very few hockey players at any level who could keep up with D1 wrestling.

Height: 6′5″

many hockey players that size actually

D1 is college, guys around 21
limber, energy, staminia

I used to feel that way.
But I have changed my mind. The oilers used to be a thing of beauty to watch.

Maybe better just to say I like the planning and strategy of Football. Hockey is more of a frenetic free-for-all were options change every second and winning is based 50% of slit-second reactions, timing and execution, and 50% luck on the puck not getting deflected off a player or seen and blocked in time by the goalie.

Still, I appreciate the speed, energy, and excitement of hockey, I've seen several games live.

Fat people bumping bellies and pulling on each other`s shirts is exciting? How many points are scored on field goals that an average high school kicker can make? Golf, baseball, basketball and hockey are SKILL sports. Soccer players have skills, but most of the time they seem to be running around aimlessly.

My view is, as much as America loves the NFL, it was calculated that there's only 9-11 min. of real action! Like Baseball, there's a lot of standing around re-arranging their uniforms & scratching their nutz! As a Senior, I didn't think I'd live long enuf to see Tennis so respected! It's turned into something brutally athletic as the game's gone into the realm of "mindless aggression!" It's exhausting to even watch as it's become routine for points to average 20 strokes, sets going over an hour, & matches reaching 3-4+ hrs.! These guys are running around in severe heat & humidity a lot of the time! I don't watch Hockey, but have "big respect" for what they do! Their heads have to be on a swivel as "checking" against the boards can be injurious! There's a lot of running up & down the court in Basketball, it's still little more than bad lay-up drills at times! The other day, a team allowed a 24-0 run! WTF? :stir: :rolleyes::dunno:

I will say that prize fights in boxing are probably as exciting as a spectator sport can get. Evenly matched PROFESSIONAL boxers fighting when a title of importance was on the line is unique in sports. Since boxing's star has fallen in recent years, you see fewer and fewer compelling matches. But when it was a sport where prize money was attractive and the main driver...it was one of the finest spectacles in sports.

Good post.

Tennis is almost a war of attrition in the men's game at this point. I keep thinking they will go back to three sets due to viewership fading.

It`s only my opinion, but I think that there aren`t as many people that enjoy watching 2 guys cause each other brain damage as there once was. There was a time when nearly everyone could name the heavyweight champion of the world. High school guys would duke it out over a girl after school in some alley. Are people evolving?

Actually a lot of that interest has moved over to UFC style matches, and hell, even women are getting more involved in it.

he he he....

You’re probably right about that. But I would counter that it would take a tobacco executive level of intellectual dishonesty to not think the same thing about the NFL and brain damage. The popularity seems to be unaffected with The Shield.

I think Boxing had the same problem Baseball had. You had fewer and fewer players/boxers with personalities. People like some guys with some edge when it comes to entertainment (and politics lately it seems). Players are essentially mini-corporations now and they don’t want to risk their credibility or value by putting themselves out there.

On the positive side, more parents are keeping their little ones from playing in the pee-wee football leagues as they become educated about CTE. An 8 year olds brain bounces around in their skull just like a professional`s.

"Evolving"? Have you looked around lately?

"On the positive side"? How about "on the feminization of society" side? Don't project your own weakness on the next generation. That's the last thing we need.
