Soccer is inherently Un-American

You don’t have the strength or toughness to make play real football
Played a lit as kid and was very good at it. I excelled at all sports except basketball. Think you could handle a Krav Maga Class

Soccer is the metric system of sports. The professionals are crybabies who fake injuries and just generally act gay as a required part of the sport.

While we should encourage this effeminate sport in the rest of the world in order to weaken them, we should not look at its spread into our great nation as anything other than an embodiment of failure.

It is a boring game with Budlite written all over it. The sport should be boycotted throughout our land and perhaps banned for the good of the children. Maybe let girls play as they seem more dogged.

American boys should grow up playing football for toughness and baseball for hand eye coordination. I suppose basketball should be there as well. Soccer...never. It is for foreigners.

Let's face it....Any sport that can go for 90 minutes and end in a 0-0 tie is, well, just odd.

On average, approximately 20-30% of professional soccer matches end in a tie.

Americans want a winner at the end of a contest and we don't even like NFL games ending in a tie.
I see, so hockey is right out

Soccer isnt that bad... its almost as good as foosball.

This list is scientific and cant be disputed.

I once sat in a bar in Cambridge (MA) and a British guy tried his best to explain cricket to me. He was very patient, but I never did understand it. It was one of those theme bars, with about a dozen TVs showing soccer and cricket and stuff. It was right around the corner from where a Korean doctor friend of mine lived, so we thought it would be interesting. Turns out it was just confusing.

Interesting that it was big in colonial times.

It's not much different from any other sport that uses some sort of ball to score points.

Looks to me like some bloke running away with a ball (nowhere near his foot) and then a crowd of helmeted males writhing around on the ground……for some reason.

I was curious, so l looked further.

American spectators enjoy watching sports where something significant can happen at any time. There are times when a game is out of reach for one of the two teams, so nothing significant can happen then, but generally that's what we want. Every pitch can result in a hit or a home run; every play from scrimmage can result is a score for either team; every possession can result in a basket.

Soccer lacks that immediacy, and the higher the level of competition, the worse it gets. If the person controlling the ball in soccer is more than ten yards away from the goal (which is the case 90% of the time), NOTHING that happens during those few seconds can affect the outcome of the game (other than an injury). In fact, if you make a highlight reel of the entire World Cup - all games included - that highlight reel could be comprehensive and only last five minutes. As a spectator, you are watching for an hour and a half, in the hope that you have not fallen asleep during the 45 seconds that made the difference in who won or lost.

I have no doubt that soccer is fun to play, but to watch it is insufferable for most Americans. Change the channel, and be quick about it!

Patience, my dear man, patience.
