There are many more like me.
On Redit I found a good response to why some hate Rory. Same reason they hate Lebron and Tom Brady and Tiger. Because they are the face of their sports.
Can someone explain the random hate for Rory McIlroy?
I just feel like early in his career Rory was generally well liked but in the last few years I've noticed quite the uptick in random hateful comments towards him. Even though Rory always appears to be a class act in interviews?
Is this mostly because he is the face of the PGA at the moment and he just has to take the heat for it? Seems to be a general phenomenon with sports in general like LeBron or whoever takes up the spotlight for a particular sport.
I also think maybe the PGA vs LIV manufactured rivalry might have something to do with it? I know he's been outspoken about that but it also feels like the PGA executives have done a terrible job at aligning themselves with their own players causing unneeded backlash.
Out of all the players on tour I guess I just have a hard time understanding why people love shitting on him?
Maybe I should just chalk it up to sports and fandom being mercurial in nature?

Rory always gets one of the biggest if not the biggest cheers of the day when he steps on a tee box so I wouldn’t let the bots and people on twitter pushing their agenda make you think otherwise. You only had to hear the massive cheers he got on the 18 th hole today even tho he was going to beat a Scot in Scotland.
Are you a Russian?
He tells the truth about Saudi Arabia and his opinion of LIV. He gets smack here occasionally and regularly on twitter.
Im not saying there is a coordinated and paid pro-Russia and pro- Saudi presence on social media but im not saying there isnt either
Smart. Outspoken. Honest. Human. He’s too real for some. He’s underachieved for others. We’re lucky to have him. Hear hear Rory!
One guy said this: I’m also kind of tired of hearing about how the guy is due for a major and how he’s going to definitively win this next one. Rory hasn’t won a major in nearly a decade, I’m not getting excited about a guy that almost wins and never actually does it.
