Starting this thread early. The field for this year's Masters is starting to solidify. Only one week left for those who haven't qualified to play their way in. Gary Woodland qualified yesterday by winning The Texas Children's Houston Open, which is a story all by itself if you know anything about him. 4 other players qualified yesterday in Houston too. This week's tournament is the Valero Texas Open and last chance for any PGA player not already qualified to get in.

I have Bryson DeChambeau winning.

I think Matsayama gets his second Masters. His driving has been off but that doesn't matter as much as accurate irons and short game which he is near the top in both categories.

So many guys are playing well. So many guys have played well and come close at Augusta in the last several years too. I really have no prediction to make.

Well the field is set. The winner of today's Valero Texas Open, J.J. Spaun, was already qualified for The Masters. I like it when a journeyman golfer wins a major championship and follows it closely with a another win on tour. J.J. won the US Open last year. He won the Valero Texas Open in 2022 also. Those are his only PGA wins. Brian Harman won The Open Championship in 2023 and won the Valero Texas Open last year. He has 4 PGA wins.

Yes 80 year old amateurs typically do not qualify for The Masters. Thanks for your highly informative post.
The Master said that Trump particularly not invited because of his terrible performance as President.

Do you think a non-Major winner breaks through and wins The Masters this year? I have a feeling Ludwig Aberg might do it.

He's been playing well. I have no feel at all for who might take the Green Jacket this year. Chris Gotterup has 2 wins on The Tour this year but no PGA player has been dominant. DeChambeau has dominated LIV and Patrick Reed is the only one who might be considered dominant on the DP World Tour. Can't wait for the show to start. Might consider watching it with the audio off. The broadcasters gush a little too much for me at times.

I made two bets to win The Masters just for grins. Aberg and Matsayama. And yes, Jim Nance often gets the mute button. He likes the sound of his own voice a little too much.

15th post
It's part of the history of this Master's. Trump is banned.
You made your point. The tournament starts tomorrow and Trump won't be there. Can we talk about the golf now?

I'm ready for the golf to start. The pre-tournament ceremonies and activities are over. Let's tee it up. The tournament isn't won in the first round but it sure can be lost in the first round. Excited to see who gets off to a good start tomorrow and probably gonna be disappointed about some who don't.
