The Left Really Just Hates freedom

Most conservatives are pretty content with leading their lives the way they want to without being bothered by the forced collective thinking of the left.
Abortion and homosexual unions?

Its sad that a country born with a new idea in this world is slowly reverting back to the old world way of thinking.

Really, progressivism preceded liberalism? What history book are you reading, exactly?

Give historic examples.

Heres some on the left.

Revolution to be free from England

Not a revolution and not a product of progressivism, but of Liberalism.

Freedom: Gov't takeover of AIG, GM, the FDIC ...signed into law the Fed can takeover any business it deems "vital" to the US ... working on screwing BP for an accident .... putting us trillions of dollars in debt and expecting the taxpayer to foot the bill for government ineptness ...

Looks Dem to me ... yeah ... y'all are bright.

The left is the force that has moved this country forward at every step in history.

Yes it's very interesting and telling that modern day conservatives get upset when the conservatism of past generations is brought up. They don't want to be associated with the agendas of their political forefathers. That's because those agendas, the conservatism of those times, were largely defeated by progress; modern conservatives to a great degree represent past liberalism made the status quo of today. You won't see many modern conservatives wanting to bring back child labor or take away a woman's right to vote, but those are the kind of causes their conservative forefathers fought against.

Liberals, on the other, normally have little or no problem with liberal causes of the past being attributed to liberalism overall. Because they were right at the time, liberals won, and made them the status quo.
Well, seeing as Liberalism is an ideology and conservatism is not and a Liberal can be a conservative insomuch as his adherence to Liberalism leads him to oppose actions being taken by Progressives today....

Give historic examples.

Wait..

Ok.

The first one, is probably the most ridiculous one.. ever..

I think your Confusing Liberal in today's sense to Classic Liberal.
Get a clue please.

You dont get to redefine the words for your own pleasure
Someone really ought to tell the -d-e-m-o-c-r-a-t-i-c- -s-o-c-i-a-l-i-s-t-s er, -p-r-o-g-r-e-s-s-i-v-e-s-, er -N-e-o-L-i-b-e-r-a-l-s- -whatever they're calling themselves now, whatever name they want to steal -er, 'coopt',er 'adopt'- yeah, steal, in order to hide.

oo confrontational:

The Revolution was about lowering taxes.

Labor Laws are the thing that has undermined the need for unions.

Louisiana Purchase. Huh?!??!

Cumberland Road. Again. Huh?!!?

I suppose going into heavy debt is a typically Liberal approach to anything,

Not really. It's more of a democratic socialist thing- or whatever they're calling themselves at this point. Their agenda stinks a lot like democratic socialism to my nose.

Yeah ok..

Forward as in? More Government intervention? Useless Social Programs that do more harm than good? Higher taxes? More Regulations? :eusa_eh:

Sounds like we're heading in the wrong direction..

The hell with regulations. After all, that is the lesson we see in the Gulf, right?

The lessons we have seen in the Gulf has been a failure in a large corporation and a government not enforcing regulations already in place.
( I can hardly wait for the healthcare bill to be fully enacted. )

rdean, your "And anyone who is both honest and a member of the Republican Party has a decided lack of values, ethics and morals" is an oxymoron, and you can't prove it any more than your silly contention that atheism is a form of faith like religion. Can't have it both ways. Much of the Republican Party has corroded over the last three decades, but as the dems came back from the Civil War and created modern liberalism, remember that took seven decades.

I'm not sure you know what an oxymoron is

just off the top of my head
The principal author of the 14th Amendment was U.S. Rep. John Bingham (R-OH). In Congress, all votes in favor of the 14th Amendment were from Republicans, and all votes against it were from Democrats.
The original purpose of the 14th Amendment was to defend African-Americans from their Democrat oppressors in the post-Civil War South.

In 1866, the Republican-controlled 39th Congress established the Buffalo Soldiers. A law introduced by Rep. Isaac Hawkins (R-TN) provided for six regiments of African-American troops.

In 1869, the Republican-controlled 40th Congress passed the 15th Amendment, extending to African-Americans the right to vote. Nearly all Republicans in Congress voted in favor, though a few abstained, saying it did not go far enough. Nearly all Democrats in Congress voted against the 15th Amendment.
{{{ The 15th Amendment was ratified the following year, but using intimidation, poll taxes, registration fraud, and literacy tests Democrats prevented most African-Americans from voting for nearly a century.}}}

The First African-American Senator was a Republican

In 1871, the Republican-controlled 42nd Congress passed a Civil Rights Act aimed at the Ku Klux Klan.
The 1871 Civil Rights Act, along with the GOP’s 1870 Civil Rights Act, effectively banned the Klan and enabled Republican officials to arrest hundreds of Klansmen. Though the U.S. Supreme Court would eventually strike down most of the 1871 Civil Rights Act, the Ku Klux Klan was crushed. The KKK did not rise again until the Democratic administration of President Woodrow Wilson.

On his deathbed in 1874, Senator Charles Sumner (R-MA) told a Republican colleague: “You must take care of the civil rights bill – my bill, the civil rights bill. Don’t let it fail.” In March 1875, the Republican-controlled 43rd Congress passed the most comprehensive civil rights legislation ever. President Ulysses Grant signed the bill into law that same day.

Among its provisions, the 1875 Civil Rights Act banned racial discrimination in public accommodations. Sound familiar? Though struck down by the Supreme Court eight years later, the 1875 Civil Rights Act would be reborn as the 1964 Civil Rights Act.

Dr. Martin Luther King was a Republican.

In 1878, U.S. Senator Aaron Sargent (R-CA) introduced in Congress the proposed 19th Amendment, according women the right to vote. Over the next four decades, it was primarily the Democrats who would oppose the measure. Not until 1919, after the Republican Party won majorities in the U.S. Senate and the U.S. House of Representatives, did Congress approve what would become the 19th Amendment

A Former Slave Chaired the 1884 Republican National Convention

In 1924, Republican President Calvin Coolidge signed the Indian Citizenship Act, granting citizenship to all Native Americans.

The First Hispanic U.S. Senator was a Republican

The First Asian-American U.S. Senator was a Republican

In 1940, the Republican National Convention approved a plank in its platform calling for racial integration of the armed forces: “Discrimination in the civil service, the army, navy, and all other branches of the Government must cease.”

For the next eight years, Democratic presidents Franklin Delano Roosevelt and Harry Truman refused to integrate. Not until 1948 did President Truman finally comply with the Republicans' demands for racial justice in the U.S. military.

A Republican Integrated the University of Mississippi

In 1954, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that racial segregation in public schools is unconstitutional. The author of Brown v. Board of Education was a Republican, Chief Justice Earl Warren.

Republicans Passed the 1957 Civil Rights Act

During the five terms of the FDR and Truman presidencies, the Democrats did not propose any civil rights legislation.

Republicans Ended Racial Segregation in Little Rock

Just a few days after passage of the GOP’s 1957 Civil Rights Act, the Democrat governor of Arkansas ordered the National Guard to prevent the court-ordered racial integration of a public high school in Little Rock. Republican President Dwight Eisenhower refused to tolerate defiance of the federal judiciary. Under a plan suggested by his attorney general, the President placed the governor’s soldiers under federal control and ordered federal troops to the state, where they escorted African-American children to school.

You seem to think that the opposite of 'The Left' is 'Republican'.

This indicates that you may be retarded.

The more I think about it the more I realize that the progressive left hates freedom more than anything. I can't think of anything they have ever done that promotes freedom in any way but I can point out what they do for power and power over others. Most conservatives are pretty content with leading their lives the way they want to without being bothered by the forced collective thinking of the left. Its sad that a country born with a new idea in this world is slowly reverting back to the old world way of thinking.

Tell all this shit to the brown americans who have to show their paperz now here in Arizona....although, this dumb racist law wont pass.

Unless they're wetbacks, they've got no worries.

It's the 'lawsuit clause' that's going to cause fucking problems

JakeStarkey said:
That means you don't "get" what the Constitution is and means. You do not have the right to impose your religious beliefs on others in the public square. This is not a majority issue whatsoever.
Congress shall make NO LAW regarding the establishment of a religion or the FREE EXERCISE THEROF

What part of "no law" are you not grasping?
.

Personally, I'd see that part revised, but as it stands currently..

Nahhhhh!

It's both sides Gunny! You can't blame those 3, AIG, GM, or the FDIC bailouts all on Democrats....or Liberals...they just continued what the Republican/conservative administration started. Honestly, I don't think there has been a single stitch of difference between the Republican leadership before this admin and this Administration when it comes to gvt takeovers and bailouts! :doubt:

FDIC, bailouts began much earlier in the previous administration....from all the different bank failures in 2006-2008...primarily in 2008 with indymac failure then others to follow.http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=newsarchive&refer=home&sid=amZxIbcjZISU

AIG was back in 2008 as well, requested and insisted upon, by the Whitehouse....$182 billion...link below:
http://www.nytimes.com/2010/06/30/business/30aig.html

And GM bailout was voted on in the house of representatives back in 2008 before Obama became president and the Whitehouse, the Bush administration is the one that made a deal with GM for $14 billion and sent John Bolton to the congress to convince them to VOTE FOR it, and it passed.
Auto Bailout Clears House but Faces Hurdles in Senate - washingtonpost.com

I'm telling ya, there is nothing different that would be happening now if the Republicans were in power, with a Republican president when it comes to this bail out crapola!

Only if it were reversed the Dems would be complaining about it and the republicans would be supporting it....

Either way, me thinks the end result is precisely the same, when the fat Lady Sings.

we hate hate-filled lunatic conservatives with deranged beliefs like yours MUCH more than we hate freedom.

well
we were promoting the FREEDOM of women to join the military institutes when you were bashing shannon faulkner when she was the first woman to enter the citadel

and we have been promoting the FREEDOM to smoke pot legally

and we have been promoting the freedom to have sex outside of marriage while you keep trying to brainwash our children with the nonsense of abstinance

and we promoted racial equality back when you were still lynching blacks

and we have been promoting blacks amd gays and minorities and women in the military and government while you have been defending Americas "white heritage"

and we were PROMOTING interracial relationships while you were calling them UNNATURAL and defending "RACIAL PURITY"

and we have been PROMOTING homosexual rights and equality while you have been defending texas's attempt to criminalize gays

and we have been promoting equality for ALL religions while you keep calling Ameirca a "CHRISTIAN NATION"

and we keep promoting the rights of atheists while you keep telling atheists to shut the fk up

we have been promoting health care for all while you defend DEATH PANELS to make sure the under paid and under insured MUST DIE because they can't afford health care

and we have been promoting the freedom of women to "choose" while you have been cleaning your guns and using pictures of obama and hillary for target practice

"Most conservatives are pretty content with leading their lives the way they want to without being bothered by the forced collective thinking of the left."

that's true

that's why they work so hard to deny gays the right to marry
and to keep pot illegal
and to keep prostitution illegal
and to have America declared a christian nation
and to keep sex education out of schools
and to ban speech that throws a positive light on gays in schools

it's easy for a deranged lunatic to shout insane nonsense like "conservatives LOVE freedom"
and "liberals HATE freedom"

but

what about evidence?

let's compare

freedoms liberals support
---------------------------

legalized pot
legalized prostitution
gays marry
gays in military
women in armed forces
interracial marriage
equal recognition of ALL religions
equal recognition atheism
gun ownership with education and registration
easy divorce
provide adequate sex education (NOT JUST ABSTINANCE ONLY) to high schools
woman's right to choose
health care for ALL
easier access to education, jobs or income for all (even welfare or unemployment if necessary)
equal opportunity for women, blakcs, gays, minorities

freedoms conservatives support
-------------------------------

guns to kill liberals with
tobacco and fatty foods to kill themselves with
constant wars with other nations
permits to hunt liberls with
nuclear power plants in our back yards
toxic waste in our playgrounds
special rights for whites
America declared a christian nation
getting drunk and beating; gays, your wives, your kids, each other, liberals

seems like liberals love freedom more than conservatives do
