Because they are not a problem. According to some sources there are 8 million alleged "Assualt" rifles in the country...about 5 million AR-15s.....and only 1 of them was used to commit those murders.

so 5,000,000 to 1.......and Americans use them all the time for sport, hunting, self defense and collecting...

and since pistols can do the exact same amount of killing.....you won't stop at this rifle.....you will wait for the next mass shooting.....with a pistol...and then say...yep, those pistols have to go to...no one needs a pistol designed to kill so many people....and only the military and police should have high capacity pistols....

The Founders were far more worried about an illegitimate government abusing its power than they were about an invading army thus the 2nd Amendment is about the ability of the American public to own the very same weapons that were used by the military's of the world.
