The people who translated Rev this way were the evangelist who had everyrhing to lose in a cashless society.. It would expose their true fleecing of their flock and make it known their income and profit this false prophet brings them. It would make their Baal seed money scam much harder to pull off. The Gov't would have better insight on the church dealings as well, making hiding their money in the Caymens or swiss banks almost impossible.

Let's break down Rev. using the symbol's meaning.
When Constantine formed his one world religion to hide behind he did so with his sign (mark) of death (beast) the cross which was the sign of death predating the Nazarenes, and a sign given him in his Luciferous light vision. In turn this one world religion marked it's tools with this cross on their forehead and in hands with the remnants of burnt ash. During Ash wed you then know all your subjects, on TV the anouncers of programs wear this mark on their foreheads proudly.
