Really, it's a matter of efficiency.

There is no one on this board on the left I respect. There are some centrists I can discuss things with.

On other boards, I've had some great discussions with people who I don't agree with on just about anything. But they have been enlightening. And I leared from it. I have not see that on the few boards I am on....for years.

So, if 75% of the board posts are bulls**t, why waste time scrolling through them. You know who the bulls**tters are....so just clear the way for the good stuff, if there is any.

Ignoring on forums has not been my style, only using it to block the absolute worst of the worst.
With the murder of Charlie - I don't know. I am re-evaluating. I have already placed several more on ignore.
Far leftist that are in glee of this happening - they don't deserve a voice.

Maybe we all should consider this. The haters don't deserve to be heard.

There are some here who are not interested in discussion or debate. They are here to mock, bash and denigrate anything and everything associated with trump. Whatever humanity they may have is squelched by their hatred. In particular foreign trolls who find entertainment in America's pain. Ignore is an excellent option for them.

Ignore does nothing. Just because one puts a poster on ignore does not mean their post is not out in the ether. Better to know what that person is saying than live your life in your rose-colored cave.

I use ignore as a timeout, if the nut gets too stupid, I put him on ignore for a few days.

The left has been really disgusting the last few days. I think they are losing it. When Floyd was killed, riots in cities across this country. Kirk is killed and its peaceful vigils across the country. Then the left tells the right they are full of hate and violence. Again, they lack self awareness.

Think of this:
The right of free speech has two parts.
The first is the ability to speak your mind and voice your opinion.
The second, and just as important part, is the ability to choose what you hear. You can choose to hear or not hear someone advocating for peace or violence. You have the right not to listen to crazy talk.
I have a huge ignore list. There are a lot of posters here that are simply not worthy of an opinion.

I feel the same way.

If someone is tossing around ethnic slurs or making xenophobic rants...I really don't think I have much to learn from them. I use the ignore feature extensively.

That being said; I wish--this isn't a mod thing--that the system forced persons to vote on polls before they could read any of the messages on a poll thread. Meaning that if you have a poll thread, either the first post or an AI synopsis could appear and tell you what the thesis is along with the poll questions. You don't get to see the responses or participate in the debate without laying down your marker and picking an option. There are far too many disingenuous polls on the board only loaded choices.

Not sure how you make that leap, you have a right to not associate with people you don’t want to associate with. Their free speech is intact, they can continue to be stupid, you just don’t have to listen. It’s like changing the channel on a TV, I don’t watch what I don’t like.
