the biggest problem with public schools is

You have none. You have blogs, Google stories, and second-hand accounts at most. I'm sure there is something you actually know the first thing about. Why not go discuss that instead of guessing about education?
Way too many facts and figures not to be true. In fact, I myself did poorly in school at one time due to the distractions, and I graduated in the upper half of my class (just barely). I don't think kids have changed much since, and there are more distractions today.

I believe one of the biggest problem with our public schools are the teachers unions. They have way too much power and control in too many places. Bad teachers ought to be removed as necessary, and I see no good reason why school vouchers shouldn't be supported as well as private non-religious schools.

I've watched many new reports, including from public media, horror stories about the state of education in America. It's you that's living under a rock. ;)
I challenge you to go volunteer at a few schools.

Now I understand that is asking WAY TOO MUCH from you, but you need to witness this first hand.
What will you witness:
1). You might be right and all your claims are really true.
2). You accepted stories you read from RW media but you find out these stories are highly exaggerated.

You can only know if you get involved.

How is punching a blue ball a life skill?
It’s team building

Did you see all the other activities they do at 3 and 4 years old?

American high school students can’t read, write their name or do basic math and metal and woodworking classes were outlawed

Department of Education needs to be vaporized

You don't get to spend your local school tax dollars any way you choose.
You want a different school, then pay for it yourself. Like it is now.

By actually working in schools every day? Are you serious?

Depends on the school.

1). American HS students CAN read. Your claim is bullshit. Context.
I challenge you to take the State Reading Test or the ELA section of the SAT, and you will discover that you too would fail the test. Of the 1000's of students I have taught in MS and HS, there has never been a student that 'can't read'.

2). Hundreds of Thousands of student papers turned into me, and guess what......They have a NAME written on the paper.

3). Could you pass the SAT or ACT math portion, right now? I wager that you would fail.

4). Woodshop and Metal Shop are alive and well in WA State, in MOST schools.
Never "Outlawed"

The biggest problem is the kids themselves and their parents. The biggest cohort of underperformers come from homes that just don't value education.

Naw. I'll just read the reports.

I don't think the schools will air their dirty laundry in front of a stranger. I'll just trust the reports written by the experts.

You are inviting a shitstorm of backlash from the teachers here. :omg:

So you refuse to even try and gain any personal experience because it will expose you as being full of shit.
