Day!

Paraprofessionals provide many forms of support for classroom teachers and students. They can work with students in various ways to accommodate special needs and enable different levels of inclusion. Today is the day to recognize and appreciate them so if you have a child in school, reach out and thank any who might be in their school. They really are the beating heart of many schools, and don't get the full respect they deserve.

Well said. Can't agree more.

On another positive note. I'm proud of our school board here. Our parapros were making $19.50 per hour. Now they're making $23 per hour after the board approved their increase. While it's not a great wage, it's a start. Next step is drawing up "steps" for longevity.

Sorry I missed this thread!

Paraprofessionals are awesome and vital educators.

Rarely mentioned, but I've noticed that first year teachers almost invariably succeed when paired with a seasoned para. In that way, they are the NCO's of education.
