the biggest problem with public schools is

Of course, I was a better student than you. Your performance on this forum makes me wonder if you should get a refund from your school system.,
Reminds me of an event back then. I got straight A's in both Mechanical Drawing and Architectual Drawing, but I carried it further than anyone else. On weekends (when no one was around) I would visit home construction sites to see houses actually being built from plans. What I realized was that I would rather be a builder than an architect. I still do remodeling, carpentry, plumbing, wiring, finishing, from plans written on scratch paper, or no plans at all.

I believe my class would have benefited greatly from field trips to such construction sites. Just call me weird (forward thinking).

Some ELS teachers are special ed teachers, if the student has a learning disability.
ESL, dumbass. And no, ESL teachers are not sped teachers. Special Ed requires very specialized training and education distinct from that of ESL teachers.

That's ironic, as both you and Unkotare are projecting your experience on the whole education system. ;)
I taught in two different states and for the DoD. I have an unusually broad experience, plus I was a substitute, a teacher, and an administrator. I also worked as a district trainer. What experience do you have?

I took drafting in high school. When I got to college, my landlord was the professor who taught the required source for all engineers. I tested out of the course by passing a drawing test before I ever took his class. Lousy high school education, huh?

My daughter had half her freshman classes completed by AP tests when she was in high school. Lousy high school education, huh?

Bullshit! ESL is the correct term, and no, they are not. I was a regular education teacher and I taught Special Education students if they were mainstreamed. I did not teach ESL students unless they were competent in English without an ESL aide.

Lacking your experience, I have to trust that what the experts report is accurate, that the education system in America is in trouble.

In your case it is because you are ignorant that you are stupid!
I'm 'ignorant' of many things, so I look them up on the internet. That doesn't make me stupid.

"In the multitude of counsellors there is safety." -in the Bible somewhere.

You are stupid because you don't know that the shit you read on the internet is wrong. It is written by people like you who are ignorant.
