The 11 Differences Between Dating a European Man vs an American Man.

Your sig by T. Sturgeon is applicable to this article.

Aw. Feel vulnerable? Got at?

Do not judge American men by New Yorkers. They....are an entirely different breed.

Secondly, there are some profoundly stupid American men on this forum who bear no resemblance to the fine men I know in real life. Granted we all let it "hang out" a little online sure. But still. Please also do not judge American men by the stupidity often witnessed here.

Americans are open and friendly. Community spirited; will rally round in an emergency, always ready to help. They are also more readable, visually articulate.

Whereas the square jawed robot Germans. You'd never know if they lusted after you, or not.

You've never been in an Italian town, middle of summer, hanging out around the town square, have you? Every evening, just before sunset, people start coming out and gathering at all the little cafes surrounding the square. Not only are there adults getting together, but there are also kids and families that show up there to meet and hang out. Very strong sense of community around those places.

Yes I have. Many times.

The place to hang out is the Canary Isles.

Agreed. Last cruise on my last ship, we did turnover with our sister ship there and spent about a week. Not only are the people friendly, but they have excellent cafes there and the towns are pretty.

On a superficial and a commercial level.

Not on underlying layers.
The superficial and commercial level is what's incorrectly referred to as American culture by foreigners.

At home, most American families are FROM other parts of the world. Our food, not our fast food our home food, is from all over the world. Our traditions are from all over the world. Our values are from all over the world.

Our pop culture is copy catted....all over the world.

I would say after a couple of generations most American families become more American and less whatever culture they came from. Especially in generations past, and depending on where they're from. I grew up expressly American. On one side English heritage; the other side German, but this mattered not a whit. Just a pure American upbringing. We have a culture and make no mistake about that.

What's wrong with being American? Who would want to be European?

They still haven't recovered from the 30 Years' War.

Absolutely nothing from my POV. We gave the world Rock N Roll, movies, blue jeans...I mean so many things.

Indeed. Evidenced by last week in the Irish Pub. Crowded out by mostly Germans, all of us singing along to Tom Petty, (a cover Croation guitarist)

In English!! They knew all the words.

Maybe music is the great unifier.

Americans certainly dominates the entertainment culture world wide. Hollywood is prolific.

I spent a good portion of 1967 in Germany as a young soldier. Of course this was only 22 years after WWII but I found the German people to be somewhat sterile. They were polite enough most of the time and with one minor exception with some former Nazis I never had a problem but I never got a sense of warmth.

I was on the Fulda Gap near the city of Kassel. That place was bombed out in WWII and so many things were rebuilt. Never got a feel for the old Germany.

I did meet a German guy on a train that tried to fix me up with his overweight daughter to take back to America with me. She was just as embarrassed as I was.

Our President spray tans and colors his hair. We have a whole subset of Americans, mostly from East coast big cities, that would consider this normal behavior. It's pretty frowned upon, conversely, by the men who are a bit more brute, and less posh.

Two different cultural norms there, in terms of personal up-keep, same Country.

Ease up. Most people in "East coast big cities" don't do this, including me. The folks in the "heartland" seems to have fallen in love with the spray tan and the hair color.
IMHO there is no American man, neither there is a European man.
Same for women. No stereo type fits really.
I'm pretty sure there are women which are not just grave digging like a friend of mine classify women.

But we are straying. I find European men much more attractive, intelligent, prepared, mannerly, civilized, sexy, etc.

Oh I don't know. There's nothing like those Canadian lumberjacks.

Hmm. Never considered them. I must take a look!
I think the difference might have to do more with European women, rather than American males.

European women are sluttier than American women. So naturally European males being in Europe have more to chose from. Whereas American males only have a few to choose from. ;)
Oh come on you know American women are sluttier. No virgins at 18. Giving bjs at 15. Get real.

But I will agree with this. It is the woman’s fault. Guys do whatever works with women. If it didn’t work on women guys wouldn’t do it.

Need an example? It’s black womens fault black men wear their pants low and their underwear sticking out. If that shit didn’t work with the ladies they’d pull their pants up immediately

I was a virgin at 18. My daughter is a virgin and she's older than that, and no she isn't snowballing me, I would know. And she is a beautiful girl who cuts down cads the likes of which we see here from a mile away. She's had customer service jobs, you see, so she's had a lot of practice. I adore my girl. :5_1_12024:
My two sister in laws were virgins before marriage. That’s a lost art.
Just what is the deal with virginity, anyway? It is evident from the fact that men don't practice it that it doesn't have anything to do with morality. So what's the deal?

You know, if a woman tells me that she's a virgin, that is generally a deal breaker for me. I've been with 2 virgins in my life, and most women have a fantasy built up in their head as to what their first time should be like, and I don't want the pressure and responsibility of being their first.

Y'all pretty graphic and up front analytic.

Stuff like that never enters our heads.

Kassel never got properly rebuilt.

Well, it actually comes from experience. In high school, I had sex with a virgin, and I was a virgin as well, and we both walked away from the experience a bit disappointed.

When I was in my mid 20's, I had another virgin that wanted me to "deflower" her, and I did, but again, she came away from the experience a bit underwhelmed, because she had it built up as a bit more exciting than it was.

Nope. Based on those 2 experiences where the ladies had told me they were underwhelmed because of the way they had built it up in their heads. After those experiences and discussions, I decided that I wouldn't date virgins anymore.

But................that was back in the early to mid 80's.

Another good point regarding the OP, is that a refined thinker would respond when asked how "european men act," with the inquiry:

"which part of Europe?"

But some folks require a narrow-minded charicature of things in order to understand how to navigate their lives in a way that makes sense to them. Thats who these articles on stereotyping are for.

Nevertheless, a Frenchman comes onto you differently to an American. We know how to deal with them, they're usually twits.

Wanted you to deflower her?

Are you for real? Of did you just arrive on the Mayflower?

Not my fault that is the term she used. That is how she asked.

How do you know?

#5. American males don’t respect slutty European women.

# 6. European males only appear to have manners because they are effeminate.

#7. The porn industry was started by European male Jews.

#8. European males are preoccupied with superficialities.

#9. European males are so lacking in confidence that they were the source of both world wars.

# 10&11. If European males were so great, European females wouldn’t spend all of their free time surfing an American discussion forum.

This concludes my stereotyping of European males and females.

In my defense it was totally tongue in cheek.

Too bad the OP can’t say the same thing.
