Texas Democrats flee the state to Illinois.

Yes...after the census data comes out, each state re-draws districts.

Doing it in 2025 after you've done it in 2021 is the issue.

You are aware that the 2021 maps are (of course being challenged in court right now, by corrupt Democrats)
and that is what has created all of this?

( of course you aren't)

Not sure what that was supposed to mean....

What year did Texas Democrats redraw congressional districts in the middle of a decade?
I really don't think there is a law that says when you can do something. What was the thin excuse to try and keep the republicans from stopping your slavery stuff?

Uh..no.
Gerrymandering has been a tactic from the beginning. All parties attempt to put their thumbs on the scale.

In the last 50 years, nobody has done it better than Karl Rove for the Republicans. He almost literally saved his party.

It wasn't a thing until the Democrats started doing it. The term "gerrymandering" originated in 1812, coined in response to a controversial redistricting plan in Massachusetts orchestrated by Governor Elbridge Gerry.

He was a member of the Democratic-Republican party, which was the direct antecedent of the present Democratic Party.

The whole episode reminds me on why I could never be a democrat.

If they were smart, they'd use the time to focus on what the GOP is doing instead of addressing poor GOP planning. One month ago today, over 100 people died because the GOP never installed sensors in the hill country. They haven't even recovered all of the bodies yet! But somehow a naked power-grab is more important than ensuring the safety of children.

Most Texans, of course, won't care but this is what the democrats should be highlighting. You may get one or two of the bumpkins to acknowledge reality.
People like you have been around since humans started to walk the earth. You come with ideas and then find when your views do not work as intended in total ways, population reductions happen. As a progressive you won your agendas. And we are slowly seeing that the extremes of them are vile to many in the general population. There is a place for all of us. Where it is at is part of the equation. An episode of Family Feud had crossdressers/trannies on it. And you can actually see the host of the show with disdain on how the people on the show as guest were answering with vulgarity in dialogue. Humans have different strokes. Highlighting the edge is not good.

1861 the US republican ship Saratoga captures the democrat slave ship Nightingale. You don't have to only do things every 10 years.
The USS Saratoga captured the ship the Nightingale off the coast of Africa on April 21st 1861 and found she was carrying 961 black men, women, and children.

Supreme Court will examine racial redistricting law as other states consider new maps

The Supreme Court will rehear arguments about the Louisiana congressional map, which could have wider ramifications for other states' maps as mid-decade redistricting is thrust into the spotlight.

The high court on Friday requested briefs from the parties in Louisiana v. Callais, a case about whether the state's "intentional creation of a second majority-minority congressional district violates the Fourteenth or Fifteenth Amendments."

The request ahead of a second round of oral arguments tees up a pivotal case in the upcoming term that could see the Voting Rights Act further narrowed by the justices and the elimination of mandatory minority-majority districts.

What's amusing is that the Texas Democrats have fled to Illinois to hide out and protest redistricting in their State but if you look at a map of Illinois it's an example of how Democrats redistrict.

Keep shitting on dead kids for political points, Scumbag.

Funniest part of this story is that they call california "liberal-leaning"

DEMOCRATS - "Texas redistricting is cheating!!!!" -- GGRRRRRR!!!!!!!

DEMOCRATS - Another state outright threatens to cheat, 100% in retaliation.

You can't make this stuff up.

You do see the idiocy of both sides of this issue do you not? Its clear as clear can be.

Well..tit for tat, I guess. I really don't like the Gerrymandering that both sides do, I think it subverts the will of the people.
However, if one party is going to do it, you can believe the other one will.
At the end of the day, I think it's going to be a wash...with neither side gaining a lot of ground on the other.

California Democrats are considering new political maps that could slash five Republican-held House seats in the liberal-leaning state while bolstering Democratic incumbents in other battleground districts.

The move comes in direct response to efforts by Texas Republicans to redraw House districts in order to strengthen the GOP hold on the chamber in 2026.

A draft plan that’s circulating aims to boost the Democratic margin to 48 of California’s 52 congressional seats, according to a source familiar with the plan who was not authorized to discuss it publicly. That’s up from the 43 seats the party now holds. It would need approval from lawmakers and voters, who may be skeptical to give it after handing redistricting power to an independent commission years ago.

In addition, the proposal would generously pad Democratic margins in districts for competitive seats anchored in Orange County, San Diego County and the Central Valley farm belt, giving Democrats a potential advantage as Texas Republicans try to sway the tissue-thin balance of the House.

According to the proposal, districts now held by Republican Reps. Ken Calvert, Darrell Issa, Kevin Kiley, David Valadao and Doug LaMalfa would see right-leaning voters shaved and Democratic voters boosted in a shift that would make it likely a left-leaning candidate would prevail in each race.

And just like that, the left LOVES gerrymandering.

LOL

15th post
In NC the Democrats owned the State Government for 100 years
which meant that 10 straight redistricting (if population warranted it) maps were drawn by Democrats.

In 2010 - Southern Democrats in NC were so afraid of Obama policies that they put the Republicans in charge as a buffer.

The moment that the Republicans took charge the Democrats sued, saying
Hey, you know that whole redistricting thing that we have been doing for 100 years,
we don't think that the party in charge should do that.

uh huh

They have fought every move the Republicans made since then.

First, democrats are the ones who invented gerrymandering. Second, isn't it also a form of gerrymandering when you purposely let in a bunch of illegals so that you can get more House seats and electoral votes?

Both are bad, and stupid, and violate the fundamental concept that a person's vote matters.
