Well, that's just this year. Overall Republicans are still behind in gerrymandering. But, it was an easy win since Republicans had a lot they could gerrymander and democrats had already done most of theirs. Republicans were just playing catch up.

The coast-to-coast battle to gain an edge in November’s elections through partisan gerrymandering is racing to its conclusion – with Republicans poised to finish with as many as 10 seats ahead of Democrats through redistricting alone.
