Massachusetts Maryland Most Democratic States

Texas has a 3.9% Republican advantage, Florida has a 2.9% Democratic advantage

What does it mean?

Both have large Hispanic populations that are increasing at a higher rate than the general population. With Republicans taking only 27% of the Hispanic vote in 2012 and taking a hard line against immigration reform, the chances of Republicans taking Texas or Florida are diminishing to the point where Florida becomes a Blue State and Texas becomes competitive in Presidential elections

If Texas and Florida go blue with New York and California already blue, Republicans will never win another Presidential election

Illinois is as blue as they come...they now have a republican governor

So does New Jersey. California has had Republican Governors

Republicans have strong grass roots state organizations that help them in local and state level elections. It does not carry over to Presidential elections

Wishful thinking? :dunno:

Demographics are what they are

Republicans can ignore them, but they will eventually catch up with you. Republicans forfeiting the Hispanic vote will cost them for a generation

Not to mention all the red states with Democratic governors. Hello Kentucky.

People from all over the US are moving to Texas, affordable housing and jobs, it goes towards balancing the demographics, a point omitted in the article. Now whether all of them (be it white, black, Asian, middle eastern or Hispanic) back one party or another is yet to be seen hence my question to you.......

If someone moves from Blue California, do you think they start to vote Red because they are now in Red Texas?

Texas Hispanics are more likely to be multi-generational in the US, and more conservative than Hispanics in say California and New York, where they are often 1st or 2nd generation immigrants.

A person moving out of California is probably going there because it is Red.

Texas today is 38.4% Hispanic and 44% non-hispanic white, a 5.6% difference

Texas QuickFacts from the US Census Bureau

As the Hispanic population increases due to higher birth rates and migration, Texas will move to being a Hispanic majority state.

Current Republican policies against immigration reform and petty legislation on show your papers and english only will ensure those voters will vote Democratic

Not everyone moving to Texas is from blue California.

Doesn't matter. Both parties are near mirror images of each other...

...but amazingly statist dupes and lovers of the welfare/warfare state are blind to this clearly visible truth.

Stop the lies and bullshit talking points.

republicans are not against immigration, they are against illegal immigration just as are a majority of americans

texas will never give its electoral votes to a democrat, never. you are dreaming.

the GOP house has passed immigration reform bills, Reid would not let one reach the floor of the senate. Now, we will get a senate vote, a conference committee, and a bill to put in front of obozo. Then we will see who is obstructing immigration reform.

Preferences don't always translate to votes. Also you have to remember the South is full of "democrats" that haven't pulled the democrat lever in decades. Long time Hispanic residents included.

ignore twitchey, she wants all candidates to run on the LGBT ticket. She is a one trick pony. Her gayness is the only thing that matters to her.

Save it for Rush Limbaugh

The fact is that 90% of current Hispanics support the Immigration Reform proposals. They realize Republicans are blocking it

bullshit, 90% of all americans support immigration reform, they also support securing our borders and enforcing immigration laws. The dems want open borders, total amnesty, and full US benefits for those who entered this country illegally, they think thats they way to create more dems. But they are wrong.

Hispanics who immigrated legally are fed up with the dem/lib bullshit. They did it the right way and expect the govt to require others to do it the right way.

you dems are losing the hispanic vote, not winning it. you are just too dumb to realize it---------------and thats a good thing for the USA.
