After Lone Star State Attorney General Ken Paxton clobbered incumbent John Cornyn in a high-stakes GOP senatorial primary, the Dems eagerly posted a photo of their own nominee, James Talarico, declaring on X: “Fired up. Ready to go. It’s time to take back Texas.”

Rather than offering a clever political retort, the official, blue-checked Democrats account completely unraveled, firing back with a shockingly vulgar, schoolyard insult: “Shut up, you ugly f*ck.”

The case dragged on for nearly nine years and finally ended in a pretrial agreement in March 2024, under which the charges were officially dismissed after he paid nearly \(\$300,000\) in restitution, completed community service, and attended ethics classes.
• Bribery and Abuse of Power Allegations: In 2020, top aides in his own office accused Paxton of bribery, obstruction of justice, and other crimes, alleging he used his office to benefit a political donor, Nate Paul. This led to an FBI investigation, which was later closed.
• Impeachment: These whistleblower allegations prompted the Texas House of Representatives to impeach Paxton in May 2023. He faced 20 articles of impeachment but was ultimately acquitted by the state Senate in September 2023.
