Thanks for nothing, Pete. You're a moron, and should be shining this guys shoes, and fetching his coffee.

U.S. COMMANDER QUITS
: Gen. Chris Donahue, commander of U.S. Army Europe and Africa, has submitted his retirement papers after reportedly clashing with Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, according to CBS News.

Donahue, a former Delta Force commander and the last American soldier to leave Afghanistan in 2021, had long been viewed as a leading candidate to become the next Army Chief of Staff.

His departure comes amid a growing wave of exits and removals of senior military leaders under the Trump regime, including the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, the Chief of Naval Operations, the Coast Guard Commandant, and other top commanders.

One former senior U.S. official called Donahue "among the most consequential commanders of his generation," while a colleague described him as "unequivocally one of our Nation's best."
Donahue is expected to retire in July.

Now this:

Could be a case of sour grapes.
Not a lot of details as exactly why the departure.
We lost real world experience, a highly capable commander, no matter the reason.

They don't put people like Hegseth in charge of Delta.

:rolleyes-41: WTH?
Thanks for your biased opinion, odanny. :smoke:

No bias in that opinion. Hegseth having authority over this former Delta commander, and entirely legitimate choice for Army Chief of Staff, is a great loss for this country, and our readiness. It sounds like either Trump or Hegseth is to blame for this.

"It sounds like...."?
Okie dokie then. :rolleyes-41:

He "clashed" with the SecDef? He must have been pushed up the ranks for being an Obama loyalist.

As such a consequential commander, what did he do when consequential junior officers or NCO's "clashed" with him?

Just meekly bow to their superior wisdom, as you imply Secretary Hegseth should have done?

He is either hyper-partisan or just hates civilian control of the military. Or he's an idiot who never understood that civilians were behind the orders he got from senior officers.

Either way, good riddance!

You're not a very smart person, are you? Maybe you should catch up on the Purge.

Not that you would understand, of course.

So no substance in your OP and no substance in your replies.

What was the "reported" clash about? Your OP makes Gen Donahue sound like a big baby.

Why not do what is best for the Army by staying in and offering respectful advice to his superior officer? How did he make it this far in life, much less in the military if he quits over having a boss he disagrees with?

There is only one loyalty in our military today, loyalty to a 5-Deferments Draft Dodging, Putin loving, Convicted Felon, Adjudicated Rapist AND Pedophile. Love and Loyalty to our Country and our Constitution is no longer imporant.

"Clashing" with the boss is never good for your career. Ask Scott Pelley.
