He's innocent until proven guilty. Where's your proof?
He may be innocent in a court of law, because the case never got to a court of law, but the public can make different conclusions and have different opinions. That has always been the way in America. The government can not put a person in jail until they are found guilty in a court, but we all know money, lawyers, political connections, etc. can keep a guilty person from facing justice and an innocent person can be sent to jail. The public is not obligated to follow the same standards as the courts.
The proof for the public has been given in detail. The rape victim made the accusation and Nugent has never denied it. People don't believe a man would forget about raping a child unless he had similar incidents with other children and couldn't remember this specific child. No one believes a man would forget about raping a child. It just isn't a believable story. Adding the fact he wrote and recorded songs about sex with thirteen year old girls does not help his case.
What makes sense is that Nugent will never deny it and call the victim a liar because that would open the case up to a civil court trial if the victim decided to file for libel and slander.
Ted knows that the gossip has it that the victim reported the rape to friends at the time of the incident and the story was known by insiders long before the victim spoke out in public. The publicity of a trial could bring more victims forward.
