Course in the military SOS wasn't chipped beef anyway, they made it with hamburger, same style gravy, and you could get it over toast or hash browns.

Can't count the number of times I wished I could have breakfast in a military chow hall again, it was the best. I tried to never miss breakfast on base, even when I was on separate rats.
