Many of my students record my lectures. Whatever I say, humorous, or otherwise, could end up on social media. If a professor is concerned about their statements becoming public record should limit their comments to subject relevant information.

I am defending the legal and academic right of a professor to tell the class how the classroom environment will operate.

Any student has the right to file a grievance with, first, the professor, then the Department Chairman, and up to the Dean and Provost.

Students are not in charge of the classroom.

This is a very good example of the "isolation" tactic that they like to use.

Isolate an incident that is clearly one tiny part of a much larger issue down as small as you can, as to make it (and the much larger issue) essentially irrelevant.

Pretend that it is not a perfect example of a much more significant point, and perhaps you can avoid discussing the much more significant point.

It's a smart strategy and it does seem to work at times.

Anyone investing in a College / University has consumer rights, something you fail to see...
