Ever hear of sending a message?? Starting somewhere? Holding someone accountable??

Yeah.. you're a lefty.. didn't think so
Are you aware of how many people at the TOP have been fired thus far sir?

Besides, if the TOP guy gets fired and it's not his fault, WHO do we have in place to take over?

What mess would that leave behind for the next guy to figure out THEN have to resolve?

Are you more interested in ACTUALLY getting the VA straightened out or just "sending a message?"

I know of no firings to date at the top. Only one resignation. Who has been fired?

The VA has been plagued w/problems for decades, which pre-dates even the Bush Administration

What would him being fired or having to resign accomplish?

Discuss...

No.

Very suprisingly..I agree with John Boehner on this.

He was shockingly cool headed and had some very sober views about the debacle.

The VA, as most of government. have a history of scandals, true, less than most. The best VA scandal being when Republicans were selling VA hospital supplies on the side.
Perhaps government scandals should be given a rating system then we would know how bad the scandal really is, but then there would be a scandal about the rating system.
Perhaps it's not the scandal, but which party can make the most of the scandal? A creatve hungry political party can make an everyday, routine, who-cares, incident into a mushroom cloud and that's as good as it gets.

Points taken, but I for one, am glad this is getting attention. This needs to be put on two separate tracks.

First, fast track Veterans who are in dire need of medical aid and get it to them.
Second, understand the organizational defects that allowed this to happen.

Additionally, we need to take a sober and clear eyed look at what the costs will be, moving forward, to handle all the cases that are now going to be coming into the system.

Shinseki and obama are meeting this morning. Shinseki should resign. He was hired to deal with the problems in the VA. Instead he made them worse. At the very least he did not meet the bare minimum of his job requirements.

Re: the Secretary. I believe he should be asked to resign to allow a new individual who is qualified for the position to assume control and clean house.

This is not just a case of gross mismanagement. This is a case of massive corruption and fraud occurring on his watch. And occurring over several years.

Hell's bells even as Phoenix was being investigated the woman is charge who was hiding all the wait time data still received a bonus of over $8,ooo.

Embattled Veterans Affairs Secretary Eric Shinseki said Friday he underestimated the depth of problems in the VA system and announced several fixes, including removal of senior leaders at the Phoenix VA hospital and elimination of performance awards for VA leaders in 2014.

Should VA Secretary Eric Shinseki Be Fired/Resign?

For the VA problems: probably

As a not-so hidden payback for telling you neo-cons that your invasion of Iraq could not secure the peace with the troops wanted by Cheney and Rumsfeld: **** no

They rescinded that bonus as soon as it became public knowledge.

I guess they found out about it in the Press :dunno:

If Shinseki is fired, people might look to the Liar in Chief for answers. Good luck with that.

Shinseki was fired by the Bush Administration, too. He said it would take HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS OF TROOPS to pacify Iraq.

Bush replaced him with Petraeus and he did it with an additional 20,000 troops. Quite a few less than 'Hundreds of Thousands'.

Shinseki's hiring was political in the first place.

John (I was in Viet Nam) Kerry used him as a campaign prop in 2004 and this was his reward. Whether Shinseki's stupidity while Chair of JCS is unknown and will never be known.

Omerta and all that.

But his hiring was political.

Just like ALL of the Liar in Chief's hirings. That's why everything this regime does is a ******* mess.

Why do you people insist on sticking your heads in the sand? I don't get it.

Haven't you heard? VETERANS ******* DIED WHILE WAITING ON PHONY, SECRET LISTS

moron

Yeah, this is a very ugly scandal. One of the ugliest in recent memory. Heads have to roll.

Uh.... Stupid....

Shinseki said it would take HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS more troops to pacify Iraq.

Petraeus did it with 20,000 more.

The problem is scarce resources squandered and long lines of vets waiting to see a doctor so they can build their disability cases.
Now at 48% as opposed to just 19% in Gulf War, 14% in Nam war and 7% WWII.
Staggering # that is now at over 700,000 and rising.
And these guys are claiming an average of 11-14 ailments on average compared to TWO on average for the WWII, Korean and Nam vets.
More of these are from Reserves and National Guard.
350,000 of these report "tinniitus" which is ringing of the ears and no way to disprove the claims.
400,000 of the 1.6 milliontotal of all troops that have served in Iraq and Afghanistan report PTSD. Overwhelming majority of them never saw a day of combat.
Outrage to the warriors that truly need a quick resolution to their disability claim and an immediate check and care.

Does it have to be one or the other, or can it be both???? :eusa_whistle:

I'm just tired of The Fragile One saying he's angry about something and doing nothing to fix it.

Not just him but others should be fired as well. The people who cooked the books so they would get a bonus should all be fired:mad:

The secret waiting list thing should be incredibly disturbing to all Americans. These Vets died very slowly and painfully. Most who are defending this Administration, would be absolutely outraged if Illegals and GITMO Prisoners were treated this way. Someone has to be held accountable for this. And i don't think Shinseki should be the only one. He's just a lackey following orders. This tragedy needs to be fully investigated. The Families are owed that much.

15th post
Fire Shinseki and the media will instantly decided it's all cleaned up and will ignore it!

I worked for a company that had major screw ups from time to time.
In every instance the guy at the top was canned even though it wasn't
him personally that did the screw up.
I was told that because it did happen, it showed that he wasn't involved enough
and because of that he allowed it to happen.

Remember this is about covering up documents with false documents for promotions and bonuses. Serious stuff not to have heads rolling.

Why do you liberals conveniently forget that CLINTON was the first who said that Iraq had weapons of mass destruction and that a lot of the DEMOCRATs n the senate and congress voted to go in to Iraq.. YOur short term memories amaze me

Him and everyone that took a bonus for shoddy service. All of the bonus should be taken out of their hide too just like they would a taxpayer caught trying to defraud the govt.
