Seattle struggles with police shortage after 'defund' movement as 100 officers leave force

And Seattle was scheduled for the Consent Decree but one of the very first things Rump did was cancel the program. The cities that were involved in it had protests but zero riots like Newark NJ. Rump needed the Riots to burn his fires. He deliberately tried to burn down America. Just one more reason he was fired and we can't afford to have him back again.
Democrats were cheering on Trump? You're confused.

So they are being defunded. But offering huge sign on bonuses.

Confused.
You're "confused"? Of course you are, Fort! That's what happens when progressive policies run smack dab into real world reality! The same idiots that thought defund the Police was such a groovy idea two years ago have suddenly figured out what happens when you have a powerless Police force. Now they don't know what to do. They abused their own Police force to the point where nobody wants to be a Police Officer in Portland and now they're BEGGING people to come be cops there!
This is why you don't let progressives run anything, Kiddies!

Still looking to connect the dots between "defunding" and "100 officers quitting or retiring (not fired or laid off)".

Everything I read says the big departure happened before April 2021. 200+ officers. Their salaries were never reduced. They got full retirement, if they retired.

Sounds more to me like they were scared of the new accountability coming down the pipe and the new attitude that they were not above the law. One indicator of this is them citing disagreements with their police leadership in resigning. Else they would all just be police officers for other departments, no?
Would you work a job where your boss was constantly looking over your shoulder not just for a reason to fire you but literally looking for a reason to put you in jail? You'd have to be out of your mind to be a cop in a liberally controlled city these days.

If we wanted it to burn we would have reelected Rump.

Your city IS burning you ignorant clod. Progressive run cities are either buried in shit, trash, or wracked by violence, many are enjoying all three.

And the progressive leaders are all making money off of the suffering.

Every fast food joint in the Spokane area has "hiring" signs in their windows and starting pay is $15/hr.
Yeah, but that's a bit deceptive. Go apply for one of those jobs. To get the $15, you have to start full time working the worst hours available. No daycare, no bennies. It's doable for a single young person, but even then $15 is a subsistence wage in all but the cheapest parts of the country.

Gee...$15 an hour doesn't buy what it used to since Joe Biden and you progressives started running things, Fort! Biden Inflation is turning that $15 an hour into MUCH less! It's what happens when you let liberals have their way!

Sorry, I am immune to that nonsense. Stop by the local truck stop, there you will find someone on par with your economics expertise with which to trade such nuggets of wisdom.

It's "nonsense" when I point out that the pay raise you got people with your $15 an hour minimum wage has been rendered null and void by the rampant inflation that you've saddled the country with?
That's a concept that even the unwashed down at the truck stop understand...so why is it so hard for you liberals to grasp?

Trump and his supporters were responsible for ZERO...arson, riots, assaults, anarcho-terrorist acts....but Biden voters, for over 12 THOUSAND.

Study: up to 95 percent of 2020 U.S. riots are linked to Black Lives Matter

ACLED is a nonprofit organization that tracks conflict across the globe. Its U.S. project that collected the summer protest data is supported by Princeton University. The project’s spreadsheet collating tens of thousands of data points documents 12,045 incidents of U.S. civil unrest from May 26, 2020 to Sept. 5, 2020. May 26 is the day after George Floyd’s death in police custody with enough fentanyl in his system to have died of an overdose if police had never touched him.

Of the 633 incidents coded as riots, 88 percent are recorded as involving Black Lives Matter activists. Data for 51 incidents lack information about the perpetrators’ identities. BLM activists were involved in 95 percent of the riots for which there is information about the perpetrators’ affiliation.

Violent demonstrations, meanwhile, have been limited to fewer than 220 locations —

“Jaw-Dropping: Police Chief Association Releases Number of Officers Injured During Violent Riots

The Major Cities Chiefs Association released a report detailing the number of violent riots and the number of police officers injured during the riots U.S. cities faced after the death of George Floyd in May.The MCCA, which has members in 69 of the largest cities in the U.S., released the findings of their survey in October and compiled data from May 25 to July 31, 2020. In total, 8,700 protests took place in major American cities during that time period.Of the 8,700 protests, 574 of them were riots that saw mass looting and destruction.

During the riots cities experienced, the MCCA said their survey found at least 2,000 police officers were injured:

"In cities where violence did occur, assaults on police officers, looting, and arson were the most common criminal activities. Approximately, 72% of major city law enforcement agencies had officers harmed during the protests. This included nearly every agency that experienced at least one violent protest. In total, over the course of the civil unrest from May to July, more than 2,000 officers sustained injuries in the line of duty. One agency reported 50 officers being injured in a single week of protests. Another agency reported that 462 of their officers were injured during the protests in their jurisdiction.

"Looting was also a common occurrence (2,385 instances), with 62% of major city law enforcement agencies indicating that at least one incident of looting occurred in their cities. “

Every single one due to Biden voters.

Riots, arson, anarchism, assaults, lawlessness rewarded, neither lives nor property safe.....under Democrat governance.
One wonders why citizens pay taxes, and what they expect from government, when the above is the norm from Democrats officials.

So it's doesn't have a damn thing to do with defunding, they are just leaving.

Funding is just the last straw on the camels back. Forget the west coast. We are having the same problems here. The left has attacked and demonized our police officers to the point nobody wants the job any longer. Not long ago it was the cops against the bad guys. Now it's cops against the good guys and the bad guys. Who wants a job like that?

If we wanted it to burn we would have reelected Rump.

Trump offered assistance to nearly everybody to stop the rioting in their city. All the commie leaders refused. They assumed it would help in their next election even though the matter was about a cop in a liberal city, in a liberal state, that was on top of a guy when he died from dope.

Democrats have made it patently clear that they are on the side of criminals rather than hard working citizens. They shut down businesses. They bail out BLM and ANTIFA members who burn them down. They defend the police and don't let them do their job.

How any person alive could be so utterly stupid that they can't see the pattern is beyond me.

I don't blame any cop for not wanting to work in a city where these attitudes prevail.

Leftist: Raise minimum wage.
Economist: That results in inflation.
